Eleteth Delta

A large river delta belonging to the country-spanning Eleteth River. Depite having soil that is excellent for farming, the Delta has little in terms of population.  This is because the entire area is cursed with the presence of the undead, and all who die within it are turned.  The only area that has been able to resist the constant attacks from the animated corpses is the druid city of Clonmeath, which is protected by ancient wards that drive the unholy creatures off.

Geography

The area is a land of fertile soil split into six large chunks by the splitting of the river. The area is flat aside from small hills forming in the largest chunk of land.  The rivers are mostly slow and shallow, and flood slightly every year when the northern snow melts.

Localized Phenomena

Any creature that dies with the delta rises soon after as a member of the undead.  The time it takes for something to turn varies based on what section of the delta that they died in, but it is usually around four hours to one day.

Natural Resources

The soil in the delta rivals or even surpasses that in the Grand Basin, though nearly the entirety of the delta is so haunted by ghosts or patrolled by skeletal armies of bloody wars fought over this soil. It is because of this that much of the land was rendered uninhabitable at worst and dangerous at best.
The other major resource in the area is water. It is fresh, providing plenty to irrigate with and drink. While the overall current is slow, it is also steady, and is just fast enough to give power to several mills that line the river.

History

The Eleteth Delta was once a collection of city states that were constantly at war with one another. According to a few well preserved stones and oral histories by the druids, the city states would fight endlessly and spill each others' blood without a second thought. Stories claim that the rivers ran red with blood and it was rare for there to be a day without battle.    One day, something changed in the Delta. The dead rose up from their graves and became hostile to all life. All manner of corpses rose up: citizens, soldiers, and animals alike were all afflicted by the strange happening. The dead tore through the land, killing all inside of it save for the druids of Clonmeath in a matter of months.  This account is often seen as apocryphal by historians, but many druids believe the stories are closer to the truth than scholars might think. Regardless, the undead have dominated the land ever since, resisting all who have tried to defy it.   The undead are not all of one mind however. Cursed undead work alone or in small groups. They tend not to wander too far from the places where they were raised. Sometimes the cursed undead fight one another in a battle for territory. The undead army, however, act as one and work together to maintain a tight grasp on the land. The cursed undead could be dealt with, but the undead army uses tactics and some sort of information network to ensure that no large groups intrude upon their lands.
