Stormhaven Bay

Considered a natural wonder of Arheim, Stormhaven Bay's entrance is formed by two 200' cliffs that act as wave-breaks to the rest of the bay, bringing an area of consistantly calm waters to an otherwise turbulent sea. The cliffs slowly descend to sea level , leaving open space for building a few thousand feet into the bay, which has a basin that spans over 2,300 square miles. Ships can be seen flowing in and out of the bay constantly, and a strict schedule is kept to ensure that none crash into one another. Docks litter the coast, moving cargo from place to another efficiently, and a large metal net has been constructed at the entrance of the bay that can be raised to stop invading forces.

Geography

The bay is around 33 miles wide and 72 miles long, with large open beaches after the recession of the cliffs that turn into thick jungle as soon as they end. The waters are clear, looking a vibrant greenish-blue when seen at a sharp angle. Tides lap softly against the shore, and even during a storm the bay appears fairly calm thanks to the wave-breaks preventing large waves from the rest of the sea from effecting it. Both the Frostfall River and the Laeru River feed into the bay, pouring freshwater into it via large waterfalls to the west and north.

Fauna & Flora

Gulls and pelicans can be seen flying around the bay, hunting for fish. Dolphins, sharks, colorful fish, and small coral reefs can be found at the mouth and center of the bay. Bright blue and yellow seaweed grows throughout area, making some areas seem garish but still unique. Fish dart around the deeper parts of the bay, and pollution is kept to a minimum to prevent destroying the natural habitats, being dumped instead in a nearby bog or magically incinerated.

Natural Resources

The bay is rich with fish and natural building space. Rivers that feed into the bay provide enough drinking water to support cities four times the size of Stormhaven.
