Republic of Imenia

Imenia is governed through a tripartite system of statecraft, grounded in a delicate balance between shared rule, popular representation, and codified justice. Power flows not from divine mandate, but from civic duty, tradition, and the ever-turning discourse of public life.

Legislative Body

The Eklesia is a body of elected delegates drawn from each of Imenia’s nine major cities. It convenes four times per year in Pasos, with emergency sessions called during crises. Seats are held by Demarchs (people’s representatives), elected every five years. Legislation is proposed by regional councils or the Triarchia and must pass by a majority in the Eklesia. The Eklesia maintains an Orator’s Hall in each major city to facilitate debate and public input before votes.
Though the Ecclesia does not hold executive power, it controls the national treasury, maintains oversight over the military budget, and can veto Triarch decrees with a two-thirds majority.

Judicial Body

The courts in Imenia make up the Dikasteria. The nation's overseer court, the Archidikasterion, performs judicial review of all other courts in the several provinces. Its judges, called Kritai, are appointed to a fixed term of service from across many professions, from philosophers to warriors to poets and orators. The Archikritai, judges to the highest court, are appointed for life.

Executive Body

The Triarchia is the executive arm of the republic. Made up of three Triarchs, each drawn from one of Imenia’s three major political blocs. This triumvirate rules by shared consent, with each Triarch holding one vote on state matters.
Each Triarch serves a term of seven years, staggered so one new Triarch is appointed every two years. Once per year, the Triarchs rotate the role of Protarch, who acts as the face of the Republic and directs military affairs. In times of war, the Protarch may be granted temporary war powers by unanimous vote of the Eklesia.
The Triarchia governs all matters of foreign policy, military command, national trade regulation, and executive enforcement of law. While powerful, its members are subject to rigorous ethics trials and may be challenged by both the Eklesia and the Archidikasterion.

Structure

The Republic of Imenia has three major branches of government - the courts, called Dikasteria, the legislative assembly, called the Eklesia, and the executive council, called the Triarchia. The three branches oversee government and the people in tandem, acting as a check on each others' powers.
There are three major political factions in Imenia: the Helion Pact, made up of expansionists and explorers; the Dorian Circle, traditionalist civic republicans, and the Vathic League, a group of militarists and unitarian advocates.
