Komapoli

Perched on the stony shores of the Middle Sea, Komapoli is where the restless waves meet the restless mind. As the Republic of Imenia’s only true ocean port, Komapoli is a hub of international trade, naval access, and maritime diplomacy. The city's soul lies both in its harbor and its high terraces, libraries, and academies. Komapoli is the philosophical heart of Northern Imenia, a place where ships bring foreign goods and foreign ideas in equal measure.

Government

Komapoli is governed by the Archon, selected from leading scholars, philosophers, and merchant-princes. Debates in the city’s amphitheaters regularly influence national discourse, and its votes in the Eklesia are often the deciding factors in matters of policy.

Guilds and Factions

  • The Lykeion of Komapoli: Imenia’s most ornate and awe-inspiring temple. It is devoted to several deities, and clerics of many orders can be found there.
  • The Astronic Circle: Stargazers and diviners who chart both stars and ships.
  • The Harmonion Crafters’ Guild: Elite stonemasons, carvers, and artisans whose work appears in every major Imenian city.
  • The Thalassarch’s Pact: A powerful coalition of maritime merchants and naval captains who control Komapoli’s harbor politics and sea trade.
  • The Order of Kalion: A discreet, sometimes secretive society of scholars and self-proclaimed mages preserving arcane knowledge lost to most of the Republic.
  • Architecture

The city fans out from its natural harbor in gentle tiers that climb the seaside cliffs. The lower districts house bustling docks, sea markets, and trade guild halls. Mid-tier districts include the civic forums, artists’ squares, and residential enclaves, while the upper terraces are home to the renowned temples and academies, along with elegant observatories and homes of the wealthiest in the city. White marble buildings with bronze roofs gleam in the salty air, and wide staircases link the city’s layers like arteries of thought and trade.
