High Durhum and the Thirteen Houses Noble (Dur - um)
Just to the west of Khazar lies thirteen powerful nations under the rule of the High Durhum, a monarchal position of rule from the great House Durhum.
All 13 Noble Houses now serve High Durhum, a powerful royal family that has held rule in this area of the world for five Generations. The Capitol of High Durhum is a sprawling metropolis of high magic design, with many races of peoples from around the world. Some High Kings and Queens of Durhum have been good people. Some have not. The current King of Durhum is Zerechadia IV.
The nation is ever in a delicate balance of political power. Trade, military strength, and above all the cooperation of the noble families must be scrutinized at every turn. King Zeredechiah would not have kept his position for as long as he has without being exceedingly clever, and has aborted disaster between the houses a number of times, most notably by his marriage with House Praxis through Ezmerelda IX. This action saved countless lives from the threat of pointless civil war.
