Seneschal: Carina Mortaelis is the unflappable Seneschal of House Mortaelis. She guides her kingdom with subtle charm and wit, and seems to have the interest of her subjects at heart.

High Castellan: Obidiah Reltham, A trusted advisor and unfailing supporter of Carina who has held true no matter the turmoil that has beset his noble house. He is also a strong supporter of King Zeredechia, and claims his life was saved by the king in a battle they were both in long ago.

The Lower Courts:

Deeply Agrarian, House Mortaelis is a highly valued kingdom in High Durhum, yet their very presence makes one's hair stand on end. Many rumors have been spread about the use of necromancy in the kingdom, which is quite taboo in many other kingdoms. They often appear hard to read, unknowable, and highly mysterious, and their house color is black, giving them an ominous presence. These things led to somewhat of a stigma against them, yet they provide necessary agricultural, industrial, and academic advances to the other kingdoms. House Mortaelis also controls one of the largest kingdoms in the land, giving them a strong, if, unsettling voice in meetings of the Noble Houses.
