The Aliens planet is made of several countries ruled by independent kings. However, their entire species is united under one emperor selected among those kings through challenges. This emperor lives in an imperial city, at the heart of which is an imperial palace and an attached mausoleum.   This mausoleum is where the ashes of past emperors are kept, guarded by gigantic status that represent them. It's also where the Aliens' most important challenges take place, especially those that determine the identity of the next emperor.   It is considered to be a sacred place where people are invited to meditate on the past emperors' achievements and to ask their spirits for guidance on impressive endeavours they are about to undertake—the spirits are said to take offence when asked about anything not worthy of their attention.
