Eating your enemy
In the past, the
Aliens used to eat part of the body of some of their fallen enemies while they were themselves in their monster form.
This was done to powerful enemies in the belief that it would allow them to absorb their psy energy, however science does not support the fact that this would have a long term impact on an individual's capacity to store psy energy. Such acts took place either in highly ritualised ceremonies or in the middle of battlefields. Indeed, they also aimed to symbolically represents the way the victor was going to absorb all of the dead's possession and alliance network, as well as to intimidate any of these remaining allies into surrendering.
Nowadays, the Aliens do not practice cannibalism anymore. However, they do not recognise any other lifeforms as being part of "the People", which is a category reserved for sapient being who have a full mastery of psy energy. Anyone else is merely animals, and there are no taboo against eating animals. The Aliens have particularly have demonstrated this in their interactions with
Humans.
For the
Babies, Alien-Human hybrid, it is therefore especially important to gain mastery over their psy energy to prove that they belong and that their "animalistic" human part is negligeable.
