Pit challenge

  Challenge category: Timed escape room (with a time threshold to validate the level) or race.   Description: The course is made of several rooms, each separated by a huge wall covered in locked door. The rooms themselves are covered in very deep pits that are separated by thin ledges. Challengers have to choose a pit, get to the bottom and face whatever obstacles it contain in order to grab a potentially hidden key. Then, they have to manage to climb out and find which door—if any—it unlocks. If the challenge is in the form of a race, doors only allow one person through before closing.   Example of pits:

Pits filled with water, forcing challengers to use psy energy to hold their breath for longer in order to reach the bottom. These pits can also force challengers to move through series of tight compartments while fighting carnivorous fish or aggressive algae.

Pits whose walls are covered in hand holds that are filled with aggressive animals such as snakes or insects.

Pits with ropes or ladder reaching from top to bottom. This easy way up and down is usually associated with high danger at the bottom, requiring a quick exit.

Pits filled with spider webs that can be used to go up and down if one can avoid the spiders who made them.

Pits with horizontal poles set across it, to allow challengers to jump from one to another and thus go down.

Pits with spikes protruding all over their walls, probably covered with poisons or hallucinogenic substances.
