Elilli

the Watcher

Several cultures on the major continent of Ethae claim the Aggel Elilli gifted the use of Magic to mankind in the early days of the world. This contradicts many Trijan text, especially the Sacred Codex, that indirectly claims all creatures of early creation could use magic innately. However, there could be a grain of truth to these tales. There is evidence in obscure texts that he was fascinated with the idea of ritualist uses of magic. His followers in Noch aided him in experiments to create new ways of using the Anon in organized groups, in differing ways to get new results. A drive his cults continues to practice. It is these cults and their 'duty' to study and expand magic that could well have advanced the use of magic through the prehistory periods, before the rise of wizarding colleges. This, in a roundabout sort of way, may be where the legends of Elilli 'gifting' magic to mankind came from.

Elilli was never a member of the Council of Man in Noch. He avoided the growing politics of the other Aggoles, playing god with his own followers and the magic of the world. When the Aggelomachy began he joined his fellow aggoles to fight and remain in the world. His unique take on using magic provided several victories in the early era of the war, but his reliance on ritual magic fell behind as the war escalated and both sides started using more destructive and unconventional magics to fight. He was banished to Kur with the rest of the rebellious aggels by Alu at the end of the Aggelomachy.

Never more than a lesser minor in the eyes of the likes of Tyre and Nyx during time in Aldern, Elilli has become one of the more vital aggoles in his exile. His age-old study of all aspects of the Anon has given him a sight into creation and the realms of both the material would and Beyond Aldern. Tyre approached Elilli in hopes the aggoles could use that knowledge to break them free of their eternal prison. This failed, but Elilli has been able to find ways to breach Kur with the mind and magic. It is he who discovered the ability to create Avatar. Knowledge, he shared with his fellow Nod Noch Nine.

In his prison Elilli became aware of, and obsessed with, a magic he never knew on Aldern; the Shadow. He has found ways to create a type of Shadowfell between Kur and Etu Enur. He cannot physically pass through these Shadowfells he created, but they do allow him to affect the world beyond with his power to a limited extent. There small patches in Etu Enur are darkness incarnate in a realm defined by its darkness.

Ellilli's cult portrays him as a benevolent aggoles wishing only to share new magic with the people of Aldern. This is a deception, however. Elilli only sees his worshippers as a means to an end. Elilli has the ability to siphon small amounts of power from the magic users of the world through their worship. Power that he will use to escape his prison. He is completely unaware that though he grows stronger on par with Tyre and Nyx at this point, it only binds him deeper in Kur. Kur is a generator of the aggoles power, the stronger the aggoles the stronger the barriers of Kur become holding them within. The nature of Kur makes those within unable to see and learn this truth.

Elilli favors Shadow Sorcery, and his cult is led by this type of Sorcerer. Wizard make up the bulk of the cult however. Their years of magical study and effort to hone their craft matches Elilli's teachings. Elilli is said to call some of his faithful on pilgrimage. there seems to be no rhyme or reason to who he choices, what his plans is, or when a call will come. Those called must find their way into Etu Enur in search for one of Elilli's Shadowfells. If getting to Etu Enur was not already a near impossible task, surviving any amount of time within is. Those very few that survive this journey must then survive a ritual within Eililli's Shadowfell. The one soul in a thousand that survive will be infused with Elilli consciousness, becoming his avatar, a shadowy creature of darkness called the Shadow Fiend. This creature can last for decades with Elilli power within. When Elilli's enigmatic task is complete he's power will leave the body. Like Nyx and her succubus, Elilli's discarded avatars will be transformed from the power of the aggoles possession into a new creature, the Ngissu, the shadow demons.

Ngissu dwell in Etu Enur, in Elilli's Shadowfells. What they do in this dark abyss is unknown. What is known is they serve their master faithfully. They will venture out into Aldern to serve as messenger and liaisons between their master and his cult. Some search the dark ancient places of Aldern looking for leingering powerful magic items or enchantments to bring back to their master. Some of the Jenuwan Order believe these creatures are the reason magic is slowly fading from the world as they steal more and more to horde outside their master's prison.

Avatar

Elilli's avatar is a manifestation of the shadowy essence of a faithful that gave themselves to Elilli. This entity, known as the Shadow Fiend is creature deep in Etu Enur. Created in the realms of reality closest to its creator, this avatar is far more sustainable than most, able to last centuries if Elilli will it. He, however, rarely seems to maintain the avatar past whatever purpose he created it for in the first place. He is an entity of infinite projects; he does not want to waste time and energy on anything that has served its purpose.
