Shadow Sorcery
Channeler of the Shadow
Shadow sorcery differs drastically from other forms of sorcery. Where one cannot say people are born a Wizard or Sorcerer, they do have the genetic makeup within to become so. This is due to families having Elf or Dragon blood within their ancestry. Shadow sorcery is different; it is a choice. An individuals can only become a shadow sorcerer through a painful ritual that could cost them their lives. In some ways this makes them more akin to a Druid than sorcerers. However, the way they use their magic is inline of a sorcerer and thus they are documented as a subclass of sorcery.
To become a shadow sorcerer, one must immerse themselves in liquid shadow pulled from Etu Enur. It is days of agony as the shadows seep into every corner of the sorcerers being infusing their blood with the Shadow. If the individual survives the endless drowning pain and despair, they emerge with the Shadow in their blood. Only half of those undergoing this process survive. Most of these have elven or draconic bloodlines that the Shadow 'evolves' into shadow sorcery. For any desperate soul with no hint of these bloodlines, the chances are far grimmer. But the tiny chance for power, where there was once none, temps many to try.
Shadow Sorcery, according to legend, originated with the Juhl'are. It is, in fact, still the dark elves primary Magic source. But it has spread like a plague to every part of Ethae. Where there is aShadowfell, there is potential for shadow sorcerers to be created.
