Aggel (AH ghel)
the Angelic Host
Also known as 'angels', these benevolent celestial beings served Alu in a role of protecting and guiding Alu's early creation, the Daemon. Later in history they would become proxies for Alu in communicating with his people on Aldern. In art aggel are depicted as Human of extraordinary beauty, with wings, radiating divine light. These beings are as varied as creation itself, with many types and varieties depending on the role Alu designed them to fill. Little is understood of their society, but they do seem to have a hierarchy of power. In this hierarchy are the Celestials. A lower ranking of the orders of the angelic host, but perhaps the most important to the people of Aldern, as these are the aggels that can still interact with the people of the material world.
The aggel largely dwell in the 'Beyond Aldern'. However, during the Randeny Period, according to myth, a group of aggels, called the Aggoles, fell to lust and power, settling and taking over Noch as leaders, and later worshiped as gods themselves. This would lead to the Aggelomachy.
After the war the aggoles were banished from existence into Kur. The highest orders of aggels were withdrawn from the world, called back to the heavens, never to return. Some celestials still have some access to the world, acting as messengers, guides, or even patrons to virtuous warlocks. All act in the name of Alu.
Aggel of being of unfathomable power. The Sacred Codex has tales of a single aggel wiping out entire armies in a single night. Other religious texts claim they have slaughtered greater gods and devil princes. By all accounts they are immortal beings that have existed since before the Time of Aterleg and will exist through all time in the future. No mortal weapon or magic has been recorded to harm them in any way. The only records of aggels being harmed is in the stories of the Aggelomachy, and this is only by other aggel. These stories do not even say they were damaged, only 'repelled'. A Craddle Valley legend claims an aggel casually walked into Dragon fire, right up to the dragon breathing it, and slay that dragon with a single swing of his sword.
