I quickly made my list of parts needed to repair / upgrade the land speeder. I decided to search for the parts in what looked like a repair station in the abandoned research station that had been built to study the Ziggurat long ago. The mention of war-droid-like adversaries inhabiting the station with the hostages we sought told me that I had better hurry building this getaway vehicle.
Vanya sent a map of the facility with locations of over a dozen robotic flightless fowl, no sentinels, and 25 Clocktaurs, many more than our 6 operatives.
I accessed and fired up a floating round black repair droid with 5 tentacles and a large dull red eye. I communicated with it by transmitting blueprints of a factory-fresh landspeeder. It quickly scanned the lemon and pile of parts I had assembled and said aloud, "Repair necessary," and began to repair the landspeeder with its five mechanical tentacles much faster than I could have.
Given some free time, I left it and walked down the hall into what looked like a scientific research room. I felt quite at home. A power flicker seemed to have canceled whatever study was going on if any. After a moment's thought, I opened the blast door to look at the article under study. It was an avian battle robot of ancient manufacture with a tremendously powerful power reactor. Combining the scans of my datapad and medical glove, I found a strong electronic signal much like the faint signals from a human brain while dreaming. A dreaming droid? I had to study this.
I quickly powered up the research console and focused on the droid's two synchronized brains and displayed it as if it were an electrocardiogram on a biological person. Then I did my best to focus on the math and duplicate those signals in my own brain.
I felt myself in the avian droid body on a battlefield. My allies were native Sestians in a very ancient military uniform. My enemies were reptilian like Trandoshans, but perhaps bigger. I spoke a bizarre language, and felt truly sad and angry when an ally was killed by the enemy.
Interesting. A droid with perfectly simulated emotions.
I rigged up a system to attempt to broadcast thoughts of images into this dream. I sent images of more peaceful modern times, showing Sestians we had met in the modern day, including selfies where I appeared to be assisting and working with the native Sestians.
The avian war droid awoke and opened the blast door from the inside. I decided not to make any sudden moves. Fortunately, I remembered a salute that the ancient Sestians gave to each other in the dream. I saluted the droid and asked if it spoke Herglic, Ethorian, or Mresti. None worked.
Just then, Captain Koleen and Vorpadaran entered the room, done with their survey of the stored cryochambers of the hostages which we intended to free. Danar Vorpadaran quickly discovered my new friend could speak modern Sestian well enough. He learned that the reptilian enemies were named "the Vresk"
While Vorpadaran continued to communicate with the battle droid. Kollen tossed me her datapad, asking me to take control of the spherical craft she was tracking. I put its display on the research station's monitors, and the droid recognized it as "navigational core" with no small amount of pride and relief.
I sensed the droid was currently accepting us as allies, but we needed to convince it.
Khatari says clocktaurs are service bots .
the ship has arrived?
clocktaur helps unload hostages
gave me a green crystal chip which has access codes to operate the navigational core.
there is a virus which caused some service droids to form weapons and use them.
could have been asleep 10 centuries?
killer droids in human skin might be an aold idea with a new tech.
need a library
