Meanwhile, back on Chalcedon...
We begged a little time from Sector Ranger, Zil Nax, before giving him a tour of SubLevel 6.
The Jedi and I wanted to have a little talk with the droids who were building the hyper-gravitic mines which might punch a hole in the universe right here at any accidental time.
Jem Vandos plans to end the Games (for now) and start a project which will be, "irritating to The Hutts".
Captain Koleen took us through the deeper levels of Spacer's Tears. She dropped us off on the lesser-used docking port, with no signs of an ancient battle. She continued on with the Sector Ranger.
We entered with Vanys and So'Zen in front of BB-21 and me and Davish and Vorpadaran taking up the rear. So'Zen mentioned to Vanya that an associate of theirs had asked them to collect a certain flower, "if the Force wills it". That phrase struck me as ominous, in context. Otherwise, my medical scanner glove showed that no battles and not even cleaner mouse droid had used this area anytime recently.
So'Zen mentioned that his montralls detected a hyperdrive attempting to start up. Vanya theorized that it could have been a shield generator or other similar devices.
The open archway led to a double-wide hallway. At the end was (as seen in the emergency lights) a door. And there was a reddish force-wall forming an airlock before the door. I noticed that the factory-original airlock-style control panel had a more recent addition on the inside on the other side of the force field. If the temperature of the little space increased by living people entering, a 3-standard-minute timer would count down. Then it would signal the room behind the door to evacuate to space, just enough to cause almost all biological sentient life forms I know of to pass out unconscious, and eventually die, but since the pressure would doubtlessly be reported to security and Maintenance, the unconscious victims would be probably collected before death. Also, I found a simple electric-eye-trip-wire which would have alerted the nearest Security room.
I made a small alteration to the programming so that both detectors would work on a 3-standard-year delay instead of 3 minutes or instantly.
Clearly, the Jedi could sense strangeness going on in The Force.
BB-21 noticed that droids here could access maps of the security checkpoints with local holding cells, in which captured Separatists could be stored locally.
local maintenance search
BB-21 and I made a local search of the base maps cross-indexing with the Purrgil's massive data block. We found that the hyper-gravitic mines were being assembled and stored one level below us.
Just then, Someone stabbed The Math. Several someones were in pain.
Vanya's very very calm voice said something like , "Is there an easier way for us to get one level down than mine", as she pointed her lightsaber blades at the floor.
So'Zen stated clearly, perhaps sadly, "The Force wants me to go this way." It wasn't the same way Vanya was going.
"Does the Force want the rest of us to go with you?" she asked, "There is sobbing and screaming below us."
Vanya cut a new doorway - through the floor. I attached my syntherope dispenser to something sturdy so that my Vor (and perhaps Sir Davish) could swing down safely on the line.
Vanya found no combatants to the East, but otherwise, all combatants all around. There were Droids to the North. There were Red (Sith) Troopers to the West. There were Ravengard troopers to the South. And there was a very small hyperspace rift in the room to the East behind a force field.
Almon worked the Maintenance console to take control of the fire suppression systems on the floor below. Almon soon shouted to me, "I need 12.7 seconds! Buy me time!"
I fired my energy slingshot at the Red Sith Troopers and hit the one closest to Vanya, right in the center of the chest, just like the Clones taught me. And then I asked BB-21 to poll the social attitude of the droids. That could be useful information.
After giving injury and perhaps insult to the worst of the Ravengard, Vanya found another enemy. It jumped out of a red glowing circle in the air. The air bled red energy like dripping blood. That figure in a reddish (I'm going to say, "mockery of") Mandalorian armor.
