Dreath

Dreaths are quadrupedal carnivorous creatures, with strong and muscular hind legs and fore legs, a long body, and long sickle like claws on each paw. But you would wish that were their only weapon. They also have two long saber fangs in their huge jaws.

Given their tendency to attack during snow storms, some believe that they are able to conjure such storms. This is one case where the myths are all too real, for they indeed possess such a power. If that were not bad enough, they can also disappear in the snow, like they were never even there, like a form of stealth power.

When Dreaths mate, the female gestates for a period of 6 months before giving birth to a litter of 3 to 10 cubs. During this time, the male protects the female. However, once she no longer needs the male, she slaughters him and feeds him to the cubs.

These creatures are perfectly evolved and adapted for freezing cold conditions and climates, but not much for anywhere else.

Dreaths are strictly carnivorous creatures, and apparently cannibals with the females tendency to kill and feed the male to her cubs once he has outlived his usefulness.

Deaths live in freezing cold conditions and climates. In Atlantea, once the weather has cooled and winter has come, they will come down the mountains and begin to stalk the plains and hills and even villages. No where is safe from them.

Dreaths are highly aggressive and stealthy predators. This also makes them extremely patient. They won't simply just attack whatever prey their are stalking. Instead they will watch them, sometimes for a very long while, and wait for their opportunity to pounce. If they fear they may be discovered, they will conjure a snow storm to mask their presence.

Dreaths are strictly solitary creatures. The only time they come together is during mating season. As stated above, once the males have outlived their usefulness to the cubs they fathered and to the mother, the female will kill him and serve him on a silver platter to the cubs. Once the cubs are of age, the mother will ween them and send them off on their own. After this, some do not live to see adulthood. It is purely survival of the fittest.

Some fools have thought to use the Dreath's stealth capabilities and snowstorm conjuring power to their advantage. As you might imagine with Dreath's ferocious nature, this plan did not exactly go off without a hitch. Instead the fools were never heard from again.

Their eyes glow a deep crimson red, like the colour of blood, and their saber like fangs are grey to almost black.

They range across the Cascade Mountains of Atlantea, to the Highwindian Mountains of Highwind, across Arctica and Arcticus.

Dreaths are highly intelligent feline creatures, they are also skilled and patient hunters. It is said they can understand every single word that you say.

They have evolved especially keen hearing and eyesight, as well as sense of smell. They are able to see through fog and mist and snow storms better than any other creature alive.
