Crustoral Isle
Crustoral Isle is located on the eastern cost of Southern Midasfjall, it forms the boundary between Hushed Wave Gulf and the great ocean which surrounds the continent. The majority of the isle is a region of large craggy plateaus that are ringed by deep criss-crossing chasms. The chasms fill with ocean water at high tide which submerges this region of the isle in ankle deep water. The western coast of the Isle borders the calm waters of Hushed Wave Gulf and as such there are sections of land which don't have the deep chasms dividing them, instead the land is populated by palm tree forests that grow on the elevated regions from the northwestern tip all the way to the bottom of the western coast. Crustoral Isle is of significant importance to the people of Kaldoran as there are large deposits of slate stone in the northern region of the isle. The Kaldorians have established a quarry there where they harvest slate, which is then shipped back to the city to be used in modern building projects.
Visitors to Crustoral Isle must be careful where they venture, as the chasms are home to species of giant crablike creatures which are known to be territorial and in some cases downright predatory towards creatures which stray into their domain. These colossal crustaceans typically stick to the bottom of the chasms where they can feed upon the mussels, seaweed, smaller crustaceans and carrion that is left behind by the receding ocean waters, but when the tide is high they scour the top land on top of the chasms for their food. The chasms and plateaus are also home to tribes of predatory fish-like humanoid creatures known as Sahuagin. These marine marauders employ pack tactics to overwhelm and butcher the larger crustaceans for meat and harvest their chitinous shells to make their weapons and armour. The Sahuagin have also been known to raid the quarry on the isle every now and then, snatching workers and dragging them into the chasms, never to be seen again. Sailing the waters off the western coast of Crustoral Isle would be a dream to most ship captains were it not for the pirate activity in the area. Ships belonging to the pirate queen Arabella Wavecrest patrol the waters here, routinely attacking ships heading to pick up shipments of stone from Port Serenity. It is believed that Captain Arabella Wavecrest and her Queen's Corsairs have built themselves a pirate sanctuary somewhere in the region between the mainland and the western coast of Crustoral Isle, perhaps on it's neighboring island, The Isle of Dasan, although non who have gone looking for the pirate queen have yet returned.

Points of Interest
Port Serenity - Port Serenity is a small shipping dock located on the northwestern side of Crustoral Isle. The port is little more than a lightly fortified outpost with a couple of warehouses and a single pier. It's defenses consist of a wooden palisade wall and a barracks for the guards. The only other two buildings within the port are the port master's office and accommodation for the workers. Shipments of quarried slate are brought here from Floodmark quarry to be shipped back to the mainland. Floodmark Quarry - Floodmark Quarry is located in the northwestern region of Crustoral Isle. The quarry sits right on a Floodmark Fringe - the stretch of inclined stony ground that separates the chasm-riddled sea level regions of the isle from the elevated land. The quarry harvests slate which workers then transport over to Port Serenity so that it can be shipped back to Kaldoran to be used in the construction of modern buildings. Thanks to the elevation of the Floodmark Fringe, the quarry doesn't flood, but it is vulnerable to attacks from the large crustaceans that climb up from the nearby chasms at high tide. The quarry uses tall watchtowers as an alarm system to warn workers of an imminent threat so that they can hide on the western side of the quarry until the beast retreats. A long tunnel has been dug in the lower quarry that links directly into the closest chasm. The workers open and close the tunnel by operating a system of ropes and pulleys that lift and lower a large stone block to prevent the quarry flooding when the tide is high. Workers are routinely sent through this tunnel with a retinue of guards to harvest seaweed and mussels from the chasms.Geography
Crustoral Isle is a bare rocky isle in that sits between Hushed Wave Gulf and the great ocean which surrounds Midasfjall. The eastern region of Crustoral Isle is a maze of individual rocky plateaus surrounded by a web of deep chasms which have been gouged out by the ebb and flow of the ocean's waters over time. The region of plateaus are closer to the sea level than the western coast of the isle. They flood when the tide is high and the sea water rises to about ankle height before the tide lowers and the plateaus are scraped clean. During low tide, the plateaus are completely flat and barren, except for craggy pools of sea water which are left behind. The rock pools house species of small crustaceans which are food for the denizens of the chasms which crawl up to the surface during high tide. The chasms have the same craggy features as the plateau above, but are home to barnacles, mussels and patches of seaweed as well as vivid coloured coral growths which grown up the sides and along the floor of the chasms.
Areas of western coast of the isle sit higher than the majority of the eastern region, as the calm waters of Hushed Wave Gulf haven't eroded the land in the same manner as the eastern region. A stretch of palm tree forests grow from the north western tip down to the southwestern shore on the elevated regions of land. These palm trees are home to species of sea birds and flying dinosaurs as well as small marsupials only found in this small forest. Bordering the woodlands are stretches of bare rock known as Floodmark Fringes, which appear between the higher and lower regions of the isle. Floodmark Fringes form where the sea level rises to during high tide. As the sea level begins to lower, everything on the slopes is swept away with the constant ebb and flow of the waves, leaving behind the inclined regions of smooth stone. The waters just off the western coast of Crustoral Isle, between Crustoral Isle and the Isle of Dasan, are a dangerous place to sail as they feature an area of rocky straits known as the Pincer Straits. Most ship captains will prefer to risk the reports of pirates patrolling the waters on the western side of the small island than try to sail through the Pincer Straits as the straits are incredibly difficult to navigate and one mistake could wreck a ship upon the rocky outcroppings.

Localized Phenomena
The rising and falling of the tides are natural phenomena that must be closely heeded for those wishing to travel across Crustoral Isle. The rise of the waters is completely harmless on its own, the true danger comes from the creatures which swim to the top of the chasms to scavenge while the tide is high.

Natural Resources
The main resource of Crustoral Isle is the abundance of slate, however the chasms are also trawled for rare plants that only grow underwater, as well as small crustaceans for eating.
