Do you believe in ghosts, Brother?
Of course you do.
I do not feel threatened, but I do not like this place. The pathways are unforgiving, like they do not wish to be traveled, and there are old homes that whisper with restless spirits. I do not think we will be going into any of these tired buildings, and I am very grateful for that. There are many, many people, and while this city has many lovely views of the water, I feel that it would be much better if the residents were not here. I can not hear the wind or crickets over the roar of voices, and the Kaidan lights they flood the night with makes it very hard to see your work.
But, I saw it another way. Silas is disguising himself, and took on a very familiar name: Shadow. I can not help but feel that this is somehow your doing, Crafty Bug.
He lead us through the city, and we stopped by a vendor that sold frozen cream treats. It has been so long! The coming of Veritu allows us to make shaved ice drizzled with fruit juice back home, but from what Papa has said, cream from Wigdonhyd is used for other things, so we can not make the frozen cream dessert unless trade is high. Maybe when I am older, I can buy my own cream, and make my own honey berry treat? I will share it with you!
A blue man with horns was in the house that Shadow lead us to. He played the piano very well, but was more interested in talking with Shadow. They must be very good friends.
Many strange things have appeared out of the walls: weapons, medicines, unusual clothings. I have borrowed a more simple set to wear while I clean my clothes tonight
It feels... safe here. I am grateful to these people. They ask many questions, but none of them have been towards me. I do not know if they trust me, but I think I would like them to. I want to trust them, too. So, I am helping Silas. Shadow? I hope that you also want to find the one with sharp fingers, and maybe that is why we are in this strange house. This 'safe house' they called it. It does live up to its name sake, does it not?
Even in the forced light that Ellisbeth has made, you have bent it to your will to show the pictures you need to. I admire you, Brother, and how you will always find a way to shine brightly, even when so many try to outdo you. I will cherish it like a blanket on this cold night.
Kiíellièn is watching me. She is like us ; also like Gidget. Sleep avoids her, and I think it is more that she does not need much. She had made an interesting comment earlier, that Payatier 'reminded her of someone' though she claimed she did not have Blackbacks in her home. Has she... been to -our- home? Is she more traveled than she wants us to believe?
I will write more slowly. Perhaps she will think I am nodding off and find something else to hold her attention. Maybe she knows how to play the piano also?
Let Our Rest Be Peaceful,
Xhoya
