Hive Matriarchy of Taua
Before the revolution, before the Socialist Oligarchy of Taua raised to the power, Rīwho were the true rulers of the mountains.
The Umbral Synaxis was in charge and the Rūwhiti were slaves and workers for the Rīwho governement.
Now the Rīwho are scattered, some locked, almost prisoners, behind the walls of Raki, others fled in Tūpato, asking for asylum to the Rīwhi.
While the kingdom does not exist anymore, the Rīwho still follow their old rules and traditions.
The Hive Matriarchy
The Matron
At the top of Rīwho society is the Matron Sovereign, a near-divine, immortal queen who is both the political ruler and the living embodiment of their goddess.
- She is the Hive-Heart, the center of Rīwho culture, religion, and identity.
- Whether truly immortal or a title passed through powerful arcane reincarnation rituals, the Queen is always the same essence—revered, obeyed, and feared.
- Her word is divine law, but she speaks rarely. Instead, her will is interpreted by her priestess caste.
The Dreaming Web
The Matron is said to dwell within the Dreaming Web—a psychic, mystical network that connects her to her people.- Priestesses enter trance states to receive her visions and pass them down as commands.
- Those particularly attuned (usually noble-born or arcane-blooded) can briefly “touch” the Queen’s will.
- This mystical communion reinforces loyalty, grants divine insight, and in some cases, reshapes memory or emotion.
Succession, Rebellion & Control
There is no succession in the traditional sense. The Queen does not die—she transcends and returns.- Her body may perish, but her spirit is reborn in the Temple-Cradle after centuries of gestation.
- Attempts to fake or rush a reincarnation are blasphemy of the highest order and punished with extinction of one's entire bloodline.
- Rebellion is rare, but when it happens, it’s seen as a spiritual infection—purged not just with war, but with divine fire and psychic cleansing.
The Synaxis
Beneath the Queen is the Synaxis, a council of High Priestesses, drawn from the great Rīwho Houses.- They govern the city-states, temple-districts, and colonies, acting as intermediaries between the Queen and her people.
- Each High Priestess rules her domain like a queen-in-miniature but remains absolutely loyal to the Matron.
- When conflict arises, the Synaxis performs ritual deliberations—arcane debates, divine communion, and blood trials.
The Hive-Caste Society
Drow society is organized like a hive, and each caste is tied to spiritual and practical duties:- Brood Matrons: Minor priestesses overseeing communities, birthing houses, and rites of passage.
- Scribes of the Veil: The arcane caste: sorcerers, warlocks, psions who preserve forgotten lore and enforce the Queen’s laws.
- Fangs of the Deep: Warrior caste: elite Drow soldiers, temple guardians, and inquisitors trained from birth.
- Webborn: Artisans, shadow-merchants, assassins, and spies. This caste also includes the diplomatic and information networks.
- Hollow Ones: The lowest caste: servants, laborers, heretics in penance. Some are born into this caste, others fall from higher ones.
Religion
The entire state is a living religion:
Temples double as courts, academies, and city halls.
Law is based on sacred texts, divine dreams, and revelations interpreted by priestesses.
Festivals, fasts, and rituals mark civic functions—taxation, marriage, conscription.
Heresy is treason; punishment is spiritual cleansing or transformation into Hollow Ones.
