Lord Supreme of Magic

Official Title: Lord Supreme of Magic
Type: Magical Governance – Sovereign Magical Authority
Selection Method: Tournament of the Supreme
Jurisdiction: All 75 Recognized Realms
First Supreme: Merlin the Architect

The Lord Supreme of Magic remains a central pillar of magical governance and unity across the realms. While debates surrounding the role’s influence occasionally arise, the integrity of the Tournament system has ensured its continued legitimacy. Supremes are remembered not merely for their power, but for the legal, cultural, and moral precedents they set during their tenure.

Responsibilities

Ceremonial & Symbolic Roles

  • Hosts the Tournament of the Supreme during active tenure.
  • Performs the Ceremony of Realm Recognition upon entry of new realms.
  • Conducts the Ritual of Attunement for incoming Council representatives.
  • Represents magical law in negotiations with non-magical sovereigns during global or inter-realm emergencies.

Benefits

The Light of the Supreme

The Light of the Supreme is a power granted exclusively to the reigning Lord Supreme. It manifests as a radiant field, extending across a wide area, within which the Supreme can connect directly to the soul-signature of any individual present. This connection reveals intention, memory resonance, and moral weight.

Upon invocation, the Supreme may render the subject:

  • Unharmed
  • Unconscious
  • Executed (at great cost to the Supremes' own life force)

The Light may not be used during Tournament combat and is viewed as the highest judgment tool in the Supremes' arsenal. It is both feared and revered.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

  • The Supreme must either defend their title in the Tournament every two years or formally name a successor.
  • May not alter or rewrite the foundational statutes of the Pact of the Supreme.
  • Is forbidden from interfering with the non-magical governance of any realm.
  • Cannot deny a qualified challenger the right to contest their position.
  • Must seek Council consultation before initiating realm-wide magical mandates.
  • Failure to hold a Tournament within the regulated timeframe results in Weave severance and dissolution of office.

History

The Lord Supreme of Magic is the highest recognized authority on all matters concerning the use, ethics, and governance of the Weave across the 75 realms. The title was first established through the Pact of the Supreme by Merlin the Architect, following the formation of the Realm of the Supreme and the founding of the Council of 75.

The Supreme is selected through the Tournament of the Supreme, held biennially in the realm of the reigning Supreme unless otherwise dictated by crisis or succession requirements. This tournament ensures that leadership is earned through mastery of the Weave and personal strength, rather than bloodline, politics, or ideology.
