Realm of the Supreme
The Realm of the Supreme is a dimensional construct created by Merlin alongside the Pact. It serves as the official meeting space for the Council of 75 and houses the seat of the Lord Supreme. It is not a conventional realm, but rather a fixed extradimensional location that exists outside the bounds of any recognized planar or spatial framework.
At the center of the Realm is the Great Conclave, a single large structure that includes meeting halls, record archives, and ceremonial spaces. Surrounding it are 75 obsidian bridges, each leading to a realm-linked portal. These bridges act as transit points to and from the known realms, with access tightly regulated.
The Realm is considered neutral ground. It is not governed by any individual realm, and no realm may claim it as territory. All matters conducted within its bounds fall under the procedural guidance of the Lord Supreme and the terms outlined by the Pact.
The Realm does not change, age, or require maintenance. Its architecture has remained static since its introduction and continues to function without known external support.
While its origin remains unexplained, its function is practical: it provides a stable and impartial location for inter-realm coordination, magical dispute resolution, and formal Council business.
Since the rise of the Sapphire Empire, the Realm of the Supreme is now formally recognized as falling under Imperial sovereignty, though its function and access protocols remain unchanged. The designation is considered a formality of jurisdiction, with day-to-day operations continuing as established.
Geography
The Realm of the Supreme exists outside standard spatial coordinates. It is not tethered to celestial bodies, planetary formations, or natural geography. Instead, it occupies a self-contained dimensional construct designed with deliberate arcane architecture. The central structure—the Great Conclave—rests atop a vast, seamless whitestone platform floating in a void that mimics a night sky without horizon.
Surrounding this platform are 75 bridges, each leading to a realm-anchored portal. These pathways, suspended in silence, do not adhere to gravity or orientation in the traditional sense—they remain walkable regardless of one's approach or direction.
There is no land, sea, or sky beyond the Conclave's grounds. Space in this realm is defined entirely by the constructs placed within it.
Climate
There is no climate in the traditional sense. Temperature remains consistently temperate. Wind, precipitation, and atmospheric pressure are held static by the Realm’s core enchantments. Former Council Members often describe the environment as “calm to the point of being uncanny,” especially for those arriving from realms with volatile weather.
Fauna & Flora
None are native. The Realm does not support natural life forms. However, some Supremes have historically introduced decorative plantings, such as everblooming bannersage or spiritglass vines, to embellish diplomatic spaces. These are maintained through minor enchantments and do not grow or reproduce naturally within the Realm.
There are no animals, insects, or birds. Ambient sound is limited to what is generated by people and their movements.
Tourism
General tourism is strictly forbidden. Access is limited to:
- Members of the Council of 75
- Their official attendants (only under specific authorization)
- The reigning Lord Supreme and their designated aides
No public viewing areas exist. While stories and artistic renderings of the Realm are common in realm-wide publications, firsthand accounts are rare. The Realm’s interior layout is known only through shared Council-approved documentation and sanctioned diplomatic briefings.
Unauthorized travel to the Realm is both magically prevented and considered a crime in many realms, punishable by diplomatic sanction or even imprisonment.
