The Legion

Humanity may have gotten away from the Risen, but they are not satisfied with just running. There is not enough space for East Veilinia's population throughout the Isles, at least not for long. With the primary funding of the Maresian Federation, the Legion formed its headquarters on a Maresian coastal island in the city of Vicrem.

The Legion was founded and named by a man named Esirri, though it was called the East-Veilinian Legion. There were only ten people at the time, the irony of which was not lost on its leader. The intention was to present the organization as a metaphorical legion, capable of standing against the numerous Risen. Even today, the meaning remains, as the membership does not nearly match the count of their adversaries.

Though its goal is to take back East Veilinia with no regard for fame or glory, it attracts a lot of members that do. Those members are sometimes filtered out via the selection process as their resolve is superficial, but many of them at least enter the lower ranks to be trained to higher quality. Members that are led by a nobler purpose view them quite negatively, but the Legion is rarely picky because of the urgency of its cause.

Structure

The standard member reports to their division commander, who reports to their captain, who reports to the Head of Legion. Crowned members will often report directly to the Head of Legion whether or not they are a captain. Even more isolated members usually have some kind of captain who will report to the Head of Legion, as only the Crowned are allowed to work independently.

Culture

Members of the Legion are often determined and willing to sacrifice themselves for the retake of East Veilinia. The standard member finds strength in unity and trust in their team, though some work alone and may not share these values. The more successful members are well-disciplined, resourceful, and adaptable, as pushing against so many adversaries in various regions requires those three strengths. Some see their work as unneeding of praise, while others relish in fame, but that depends on why they joined in the first place.

Public Agenda

The Legion aims to inspire hope in the general populace, especially those who have lost their homes. They want to show that it is not just a pipe dream to reclaim East Veilinia. This is why it allows its members to garner fame, as idols are inspirations above all else. Overall, its goal is to take back East Veilinia for good and defeat the Risen.

Assets

Through the sponsorship of Maresia and Wacu, the Legion has many weapons and tools of war. It also has many buildings on Vicrem that are used to either house or manage its members.

History

The Legion formed in 8335 with Esirri as its Head and with only the funding of its few members. Even with less than a dozen people, however, they managed to win a battle and push back the Risen on an Altonian coastal town. A year later, the Legion got official funding from Maresia and Wacu, affirming its legitimacy, which resulted in an explosive increase in membership. Though Esirri died in 8338, it continues to thrive and more of East Veilinia has been taken back than ever.

The Maresian Federation was the first land-owning organization to invest in the Legion's formation. It was a majority decision, with the only dissent being that it wasn't any of the Maresian territory's business. However, as more people flooded the islands, it was quickly understood that it was a continental problem. Money and supplies rapidly flowed into the Legion afterward, helping it take its first step toward making its mission a reality.
