Addison Ross
Head of Legion Addison Ross
Addison Ross was one of the first ten members of the Legion and the first of those to undergo a Coronation. Known affectionately by Legion members as the Head and Body of the Legion, Ross uses a decree that envelops him in steel and makes him an unstoppable force and immovable object. His defense is impenetrable even to the Risen, and his combat style is incredibly protective of both himself and others. Though he was born wealthy, he has no attachment to money and cares far more for people. His selflessness and affable nature make him well-liked within the Legion, though a mistake in his past weighs on him heavily.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Addison has a wide frame and is very muscular. Though his size means he's not very agile, his stature and decree make him very difficult to defeat.
Body Features
Below his head, much of Addison's body is scarred. After using his decree, he gets shallow wounds where he was struck.
Identifying Characteristics
Addison's Coronation markings are across his chest in a standard rectangular shape. When he uses his decree, certain patterns of it appear on the affected area depending on which part of his body it is.
Special abilities
Addison's decree turns any part of his body into an impenetrable steel. Though the Risen's weapons and strength ordinarily can pierce or slash through any metal, Addison's decree seems to be the sole exception to this.

Personal history
Addison's parents were prominent traders who made a good living off it and had even started to hire outside the family. Before any formal organization could be made, however, the fissure of Xocrin broke open. At first, people didn't believe it or didn't expect them to advance as quickly as they did, but once they entered the Visismolian Principality, the Ross family was one of the first to leave. They lived on an island off the coast, but it was connected to the mainland by a massive bridge that would be difficult to destroy, so they left their house behind and moved to Maresia.
He'd never been powered by the same lust for money as his parents, and rather, he was a very compassionate person who they didn't see as fit for succeeding the family business. At one of their stops, Addison snuck five children onto the ship whose parents could not afford to leave. His parents only found out after they arrived, and of course, he was admonished, but it wasn't something he regretted.
When, a few years later, word spread that someone was forming a group to take back the eastern continent, Addison immediately left home. He had no combat experience, having never even seen it, but he felt compelled to join. He would've been denied, in fact, had he not offered to pay for weapons and supplies. Even after that, he had to beg others to give him any training, most of whom, except Esirri, doubted his resolve.
Despite the overall understanding that defense was worthless against the Risen, his combat style began to center around parrying. Once the small startup of the Legion made its first mission, his focus was pushing away weapons and then striking. It was a unique fighting style, as it lacked mobility like most of the other members, but it worked and gave him a reputation for being the shield of the team.
Addison Ross had little love for his family. He saw them as narrow-minded and selfish, caring more for the lining of their pockets than empathy for others. The Legion, following the perfect result of their first mission, became his true kin. Even those of the first ten who have died clearly hold a more prominent place in his heart than his family. His success against expectations made Esirri consider him the prospective Head of Legion, discovered after his death. Reluctantly, Addison has been leading ever since, though his feeling of responsibility for Esirri's death causes him to act uncertainly at times.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Despite low expectations, Addison continually prospered as a warrior. He won duels quickly and moved to help others. His habit of helping early on cemented him in the team, and his inclusion of others in his later history made him an icon of the Legion.
Failures & Embarrassments
In 8338, Addison, Morgan Moreno, and the two Heads of Legion at the time intended to go on a brief scout mission and collect notes for a future offense. However, they were ambushed, and numbers kept flowing in. In the chaos, Addison managed to stab through the head of the Monarch leading them, but in return, the two leaders were struck from the sides and mortally wounded. Addison managed to get away thanks to Moreno, but they returned without their leaders. Addison is yet to stop blaming himself for this and even tried to deny his succession to Head out of shame.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Addison, unlike other prominent characters, did not lose much of what he loved to the Risen. Living on a Visismolian island, his wealthy family had plenty of time and the ability to escape. None of them died directly to the Risen, and if anything, he just lost the benefits of his generational wealth. However, at no point had he been privileged. He understands the people who have lost their loved ones. He fights for them, and following his appointment as Head of Legion, he fights to correct his failures.
Virtues & Personality perks
- Compassionate
- Protective
- Excellent leadership skills
- Generous
- Formidable foe
Vices & Personality flaws
- Doubtful of himself
- Prioritizes others
- A bit too down-to-earth for a leader
Social
Social Aptitude
Addison doesn't have a particularly stereotypically charismatic personality. Unless you've been around him personally or seen him on the battlefield, you will see no reason to like him. However, his selflessness makes it hard to dislike him. He's protective of all those he's responsible for, and his intentions are always genuine. He's polite to everyone in the Legion regardless of rank and is open to any criticism. He's never been particularly confident but since his appointment to Head, he tries to at least act like it in public. He doesn't truly feel like he deserves the role, however.
Relationships
History
The two met as soon as Keona joined the Legion, though they only ever met on the battlefield in big missions. Once Addison became the Head of Legion, Keona ended up reporting to him, so they met much more often. Keona's over-friendly nature meant she had no issue with talking to him like a friend even though he suddenly outranked her, so their relationship didn't change much from this.
In fact, they likely got closer after Esirri's death, as Keona made sure that Addison wouldn't get too depressed over what happened.
Nicknames & Petnames
Keona calls Addison "Addy," not particularly affectionately or anything, but as a way to show that she has no interest in looking up at him. While most call him something along the lines of Head Ross, Keona will call him Addy anyplace and under any circumstances.
History
Morgan has never really liked Addison, as he saw him as someone who bought his way in. With a bad first impression, just about anything Addison did lowered Morgan's opinion of him, especially regarding Addison's explosive growth as a fighter. With only a few months of training with the other members, he could hold his own. Morgan felt that Addison never had to work as hard as he did for anything. This was amplified by Addison's coronation and his appointment to Head of Legion.
Since Morgan was appointed as Assistant Head, the two must work together in some cases. Addison has nothing against him and sees him as an invaluable asset to the Legion, but Morgan tries to avoid talking to him most of the time because he doesn't want to blow up on him.
Wealth & Financial state
Though he was once wealthy, Addison has used all the money that was given to him on financing the early Legion before Maresia took up the rest. His only money now is his income as Head of Legion, though he doesn't live beyond his means.
