Maresian Federation
The Maresian Federation is a group of islands between the main landmasses of East and West Veilinia. It was the last organization to be founded in Veilinia, but it does not fall short as it prospers particularly with economic might. The formation of the Maresian Federation united its islands with the promise of free trade, and soon after that, they were trading with the world.
Maresia's only doctrine is free trade. It wishes to trade anywhere, at any time, under any circumstances. The nations of Veilinia collectively respect this, and those that have tried to violate it in any war have consistently been targeted and forced into unconditional surrender.
Structure
Each island of the Federation has a representative that has a seat in the Conference of Commerce. They meet throughout the year in the city of Maras to discuss trade and their respective concerns. Decisions are made with a 70% majority vote.
Public Agenda
The promise of Maresia has always been that if you exist, you will be traded with. They make profits above all else, and aside from when the Legion needed official funding, they do not act morally unless it is profitable.
Territories
Maresia occupies all central oceanic islands aside from those owned by Wacu. These territories are all willingly assimilated. Each island chose to because it would benefit them to be part of a whole.
Foreign Relations
Until wartime, the Maresian Federation always has an amicable relationship with every nation in Veilinia. When other nations go to war, tensions may increase between Maresia and the warring countries, but they always know better than to directly halt the Federation's trading.
Agriculture & Industry
It depends based on the island, but overall, the larger islands are more based on agriculture, whereas the smaller ones are more developed. Inhabitants on larger islands may focus on raising animals, farming, or fishing, though usually only fishing if they are trying to sustain themselves only. There is more developed space on the smaller islands that are used for developmental industries like refinement and crafting.
Trade & Transport
Like the disbanded Free City of Xocrin, Maresian lands trade exclusively via ocean, though it's less a matter of choice here as all of its lands are in the ocean. On land, goods are transported by carriage on roads that are specifically made to expedite the process. Before the Rising, there was a plan to connect all the islands by bridge, but after, there is a general paranoia about connecting land after it led to the destruction of Altonia.
Education
Citizens of the smaller islands in the federation are on average better educated than those on larger ones. Those on smaller islands often had to rely on developing technology instead of being able to survive off farming as the larger islands did. Those with more money are always best educated, but the disparity is most prevalent in Maresia when looking at the average factory owner next to a farmhand.
Infrastructure
Maresian infrastructure is based around the ocean. Ports surround every island, and some of its cities are even built on top of the water. Lighthouses are very common. The further inland one goes, the less developed it gets.

Major Exports
There is not much produced specifically by Maresia that is not produced elsewhere. However, it serves as a trading hub, buying and reselling goods as an effective middleman. It particularly thrives in refining goods, being the furthest ahead in textile, steel, and oil production.
Major Imports
Lumber and lots of foodstuffs are imported by the Maresian Federation's islands. Food is most common, as the production of the islands alone can't always sustain its entire landmass. Maresia will import anything for the sake of trading, though.
Legislative Body
Laws are made for specific islands. The Maresian Federation itself does not manage laws, only stating that trade must be unconditionally allowed.
Sponsored & Sponsor
The Maresian Federation was the first land-owning organization to invest in the Legion's formation. It was a majority decision, with the only dissent being that it wasn't any of the Maresian territory's business. However, as more people flooded the islands, it was quickly understood that it was a continental problem. Money and supplies rapidly flowed into the Legion afterward, helping it take its first step toward making its mission a reality.
