Didžiausias River
The Didžiausias (pronounced deed-zow-shus) River is the biggest river in Miskunas even if it is not the longest river. It serves as the lifeblood for many cities and villages and allows for easy access to trade with the dwarven city Holmhond.
Geography
The Didžiausias River starts in the Frostspine Mountains near the dwarven city of Holmhond and empties into the Bay of Mituva. The river is approximately 250 miles long and flows from east to west. It is both quite wide and quite deep which easily allows river boats to flow up and down the river for a variety of purposes, including trade.
The fact that the river is so wide and traversable has caused the Kingdom of Miskunas to set up many lines of defenses against hostile groups from entering the river such as Fellmen raiders. The city of Mituva guards the mouth of the river with both large towers and many boats.
Fauna & Flora
The fauna of the river hasn’t been fully investigated, but there are several plants that grow along the river and under the river which have valuable alchemical purposes. There are also reeds that grow in places on the river which have a variety of uses, like for making ropes.
The river hosts a variety of freshwater fish including but not limited to salmon, carp, pike, perch, zander, bream, and eel.
Natural Resources
The primary natural resource of the Didžiausias River are the fish that live in the waters that have been exploited by the people who have lived on the banks of the river for many generations. Fish is an extremely important part of the economy of the cities, towns, and villages that exist along the river as it is used for both food and trade. Salted and smoked fish is a common trade item for settlements along the river.
