Zalius Forest
Zalius Forest is one of the two large forests in the Kingdom of Miskunas. It is in the northern part of the kingdom and north of the Didžiausias River.
Geography
The Zalius Forest is a combination of areas of flat or rolling hills and areas of larger and steeper hills. The Dablias River runs through the middle of the forest. There are also several smaller rivers that run throughout the forest. These rivers tend to flow out of lakes that are usually surrounded by areas of wooded wetlands or marshlands.
Fauna & Flora
The Zalius Forest consists trees such as pine, spruce, birch, and alder. The ground, typically a sandy soil, is covered in lichen. Various types of mushrooms and berries can be found in the forests are often very important to part of the local economy.
The fauna of the forests consists of animals such as various types of wolves, various types of grouse, owls, weasels, osprey, hares, deer, and more. Many of these animals have giant and dire versions living in the forests which can make venturing into the forest quite dangerous.
The rivers various rivers of the forest are generally rich of various types of freshwater fish such as salmon, pike, zander, perch, and bream as well as eel.
Natural Resources
The wood of the Zalius Forest is one of its major resources. Several of the towns and villages in the interior of the forest have lumberyards and mills which they use locally and for trade.
The forest is also very rich in mushrooms and berries which the people living in or close to the Zalius Forest will often forage for. These mushrooms and berries are a huge part of the local economy and cuisine.
The various hills in the forest are said to be rich in minerals such as iron, copper, amber, dolomite, clay, limestone and occasionally gold and platinum.
