Shatterstone

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Shatterstone is a brutal, crumbling wasteland nestled deep within the Abyss, its exact layer obscured by centuries of collapse and planar erosion. It serves as the forsaken dominion of Vaprak.   What remains of Shatterstone is a shattered cavern-realm, endlessly groaning under the pressure of tectonic forces and divine wrath long spent. Its very stone is cracked and weeping magma, echoing with the thunderous sound of mountains tearing themselves apart. Caverns collapse without warning. Cliffs fracture mid-step. It is a realm where no structure stands for long and no oath is kept.

Geography

The entire realm is composed of vast underground chambers, narrow lava-lit tunnels, and petrified remains of fortresses crushed beneath centuries of seismic torment. Some passages lead to nowhere; others end abruptly in yawning abysses of stone and fire.   Unlike the more war-torn or politically contested layers of the Abyss, Shatterstone exists in seclusion—not due to peace, but because even other demon lords avoid the instability of the plane. Portals into Shatterstone are rare and often temporary, appearing in places where massive destruction has recently occurred, such as toppled cities or landslides born of hatred.

Notable Locations

The Stonebleed Crags Jagged mountain ridges that rise within vast hollow chambers. Their peaks bleed molten stone when stirred by violence, something that occurs frequently, as the realm itself seems to punish stillness.

Inhabitants

Petitioners of Vaprak
These souls, once ogres, trolls, and lesser giants devoted to violence and destruction, now lurk within the shuddering dark. Twisted by the abyssal essence, they shamble through the rubble in crude packs, afraid of light and terrified of recognition. Unlike other Giantkind, they are scorned not only by mortals but by the planar giants of Jotunheim, who view them as shameful and irredeemable.
Abyssal Outcasts
Few willingly seek Shatterstone. The realm occasionally shelters exiled demons, failed champions, or cursed spellcasters too broken to survive elsewhere in the Abyss. Most perish. The few who adapt tend to become worse than the beasts they feared.
