Pazunia

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Pazunia is the first layer of the Abyss, it is ruled by the demon prince Pazuzu.   Pazunia is the fractured and desolate scab at the lip of the Abyss. A vast expanse of scorched mesas, smoking ravines, and iron-bound plateaus, it writhes under the weight of its ancient purpose: to be the gate and the grave of all who descend. Its terrain is torn by cyclonic winds, red suns that do not rise nor set, and pits, thousands of them, each yawning with hatred, hunger, and the promise of deeper damnation.   The sky is the color of dry blood and broken slate, and the land beneath it is hostile to shape and permanence. Iron fortresses rise across the wastes like cankers, remnants of ancient wars, demonic strongholds, or bastions of foolish mortals who believe they can chart the infinite.

Geography

Notable Locations[/h3

]The Grand Abyss
The largest of all known chasms, considered a separate layer by some scholars. Its depth cannot be measured; its walls are dotted with ancient sanctums and ruined cities.
Aldinach’s Egg
A chitinous, ovoid fortress housing the brood-priestess Aldinach and her birthing chambers of alchemical horror.
Broken Reach
A trade fortress atop a gate to the gate-town of Plague-Mort. Ruled by Red Shroud, a succubus-sorceress who enforces order through perverse contracts.
Lakes of Molten Iron
Vast reservoirs of superheated metal, used to forge infernal weapons and seal demonic pacts in molten script.
Shullen-Gat
A militarized keep of Baltazo, a disgraced general of the Blood War. Demonic press-gangs depart from here toward Hollow’s Heart.
Styros
A miserable press-gang port on the Styx. Molydei round up conscripts, and Babau overseers maintain control through sadistic routine.
Vanelon
A once-glorious citadel of Malcanthet’s consort, now overtaken by Mastiphal the Hunting Sovereign, who turns its towers into hunting perches.

Cosmology

The River Styx cut through this layer, which also connects to both Pandemonium and Hades at different edges.
