Realm of a Million Eyes
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Realm of a Million Eyes is the 6th layer of the Abyss. It is a rotting vertical warren of lightless tunnels and shrieking madness. It is the sacred territory of a blasphemous power known as The Great Mother. Though some scholars debate whether she is a true deity or a metaphysical spawn of the Abyss itself, all agree that her dominion is soaked in paranoia, division, and mutation.
Geography
Unlike the sprawling plains or seas of other Abyssal realms, this layer descends endlessly, a vertical plane of gnashing stone, spiraling passages, and bottomless shafts. Gravity here is unreliable, sometimes reversing or shifting sideways, driving intruders into the walls or flinging them into blind abysses. The entire layer appears to weep slime and ichor from the jagged stone.
The walls of the realm are alive, pocked with unblinking eyes, twitching stalks, and whispering lids. These are not merely features of the terrain, but extensions of the Great Mother’s will, granting her absolute awareness of all movement within her domain.
Escape often requires absolute blindness, magical or physical, as the realm’s gaze binds all who are seen.
Inhabitants
Those who awaken in the Realm of a Million Eyes as petitioners are typically souls who worshipped domination, surveillance, or distorted perfection. Twisted into eyeless husks, they wander the tunnels in blind servitude or cling to ledges while whispering secrets to unseen masters. The realm is inhabited by endless aberrant entities—eye-covered beasts, sentient motes of visual energy, and shifting biological constructs that reflect the Great Mother’s hate for symmetry and alliance. What little hierarchy exists is enforced by the Elder Eyeguards, ancient petitioners who’ve sacrificed all memories of their prior lives to become ocular avatars of the Great Mother's will.Planar Access
Entry to Plane Shift to this layer is only possible using items of pure paranoia, such as a mirror containing one's reflection permanently etched in blood.Escape often requires absolute blindness, magical or physical, as the realm’s gaze binds all who are seen.
