Amoria
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Amoria is the first and most welcoming layer of Elysium. It is a gentle sweep of rolling meadows and airy woodlands where the colors run deeper, birdsong rings clearer, and even the breeze seems to lift a traveler’s heart. Seasons soften to mild variations here, and the many branches of the River Okyanus braid and rejoin across the land, carrying skiffs, ferries, and whole river-towns between green banks perfumed by flowering trees. This is the marshaling ground of Elysium’s champions: a place where relief missions are planned, captives of evil are recovered, and courage is tempered with kindness.
Customs and Law
Hospitality at the water’s edge is sacred: share bread and sweet water at a dock or ford and all parties owe safety and frank speech until the next bell. River oaths are recorded as songs, knot-cords, or painted hull-marks, and within sight of a vowed mark tempers cool and promises hold. Open violence is shunned; disputes begin with witness-song and cited deeds before any test of wit or arms. Burning books, silencing testimony, or coercing forgetfulness are profane acts, the rule here is to correct by addition, not erasure.Geography
Travel and Access
River Okyanus is the high road: long calm reaches carry pilgrims between towns, then slide on toward The Beastlands.Inhabitants
Agathions, the “guardinals” of older tales, make their headquarters here, leonals convene war-councils, avorals ride the river winds, ursinals tend hospitals and archives, and cervidals keep the peace along caravan greens. Azatas (bralani and lillends) range as couriers and morale-keepers, while hollyphants, moon dogs, and kindly Angels serve as guides and wardens. Petitioners of pure good settle in riverside hamlets and isles, joining rescue flotillas or provisioning waystations for those bound to harsher fronts.Localized Phenomena
Seasonal Okyanus flood pulses widen channels into mirror-lakes; patient queues at rope-ferries find the crossing made easy.
The Peace of Elysium dulls open aggression, blades feel heavy and voices soften, while doors (and hearts) open to those who choose parley.
A revel tide can overtake a district without warning; delights ring truer and fear used to cow others falls flat. In marsh-mist, witness haze carries kindly truth while spiteful falsehood clots on the tongue. Within the Sanctuary of Leniency, a clemency bell tolls when a penitent truly understands their harm, and sentences turn into acts of repair.
River’s Favor guides water, and travel-magics, water walk, control water, find the path, and teleports keyed to a declared purpose arrive with uncanny precision along Oceanus branches. Mercy’s Preference subtly empowers healing, restorations, atonement, and communal protections, while [evil], domination, enslavement, and terror magics strain or quietly fail. Performative casting. sung, illuminated, mapped, or told, steadies concentration, and onlookers read benign effects as part of the rite. Guest-right boons let sending, tongues, protection, and courage-chants tied to a shared-bread oath linger through the next bell.
An archivist’s grace rests on teachers who share honest failures: recall sharpens, hands steady, and their students prove luckier at the same craft.
