Ríocht na'Draíocht

Followers of Cosán na'Draíochta (The Path of Magic), Tailte Draiochta is full of aristocratic grace and imposing imperial majesty but with striking contrast between the advanced Airships flying overhead and the rural villages run by the peasantry. Without a doubt, in the prideful Imperial East you either wield arcane energy or you're a slave to one of the Arcane Families. Led by His Imperial Majesty, The Emperor of the East the Eastern Empire is a highly prosperous empire with great trade and military might despite most of the lands being a land of death to all but the most powerful.

Structure

The Eastern Empire holds a feudal system under imperial rule with the Emperor of the East controlling the empire, along with the imperial family. The Arcane Families serve as the nobility for the empire, though the Magical Schools were given the most political power after the Imperial Family itself several centuries ago and has since consolidated their power into an unshakable foundation.

Public Agenda

The Imperial Family are the rulers of the Eastern Empire, and as such lead it's members against threats of magical beasts and members of the other four nations. Though they do this to maintain their power, it is a responsibility that they cannot shy from lest they're replaced by another of the Arcane Families or one of the Magical Schools. The empire, unlike the barbarians to the north and monks to the south have the desire to expand their territory and as such they're more than willing to do whatever it takes for the prosperity of their empire - from diplomacy and trade to outright conquest (albeit hidden behind schemes).

Assets

Enchanted forests; mines of mithril, precious metals, and gems; great walled cities; castles and towers; a well trained army: all things within the Eastern Empire technically belong to the Emperor of the East and his Imperial Family, and the Arcane Families merely steward over the empire in a feudal system.

History

While not immortal, sorcerers nonetheless live many centuries thanks to the mutations over millennia of harnessing arcane energy. Due to this, the history of the Imperial Family is long - even more so since they're one of the oldest living Arcane Families within the Eastern Empire. Members of the Imperial Family run the Magical Schools and as such have the most in depth understanding of magic and are often the most powerful sorcerers around which is why they've been able to survive to this day and hold the seat of power for so long.

Demography and Population

The Eastern Empire is obviously home to the Eastern Tribe, who after long millennia of studying the arcane have been permanently mutated by magical energies just like the beasts that dwell within it's magical forests. No matter, only the most powerful sorcerers can venture too far into the woods and thus they gather instead on the central coast and along the river separating them from the holy lands to the south.

Territories

On paper the entire Eastern Empire belongs to the Emperor of the East and the Imperial Family, but due to how unpredictable and deadly the depths of the forests are the lands they have firm hold of are along the rivers and central coast with only well defended castles and mage towers further in belonging to powerful Arcane Families and eccentric sorcerers. Meanwhile in The Capital they hold many Manors under the guise of being Nobles who've become citizens of the Central Kingdom and even more members acting in the Guilds, especially the Mage's Guild and Adventure's Guild. They even have a couple of Sects in the Holy Lands under their command due to a few spies either masquerading as monks or eccentric arcanists experimenting in the spiritual arts native to those lands.

Military

While His Majesty, the Emperor of the East, can command all Arcane Families and the Magical Schools to send their members to fight on behalf of the Eastern Empire the Imperial Family actually has a standing army - one of only two in Ihmisen Keh'to with the other belonging to the Artificers of the Western Kingdom. The majority of this army are civilians trained in war, but elite knights converted from the Northern Tribe make the backbone of the combatants sergeants along with the rare sorcerer that focuses on close-quarters combat through alteration magic. The real force are, fittingly, battle-mages who rain down hell from afar while decked in harnesses of full plate - each having the ability to wipe out entire divisions with their spells.

Technological Level

Don't let it's seemingly medieval appearance fool you, the Eastern Empire is just as advanced as the Western Kingdom they've just advanced in Cosán na'Draíochta instead of Cosán an'Eolaíochta - finding a different solution to the same problems. Running water is only one spell away and a sewage system powered by otherwise dangerous magical creatures is present in nearly every town and city while the nightlife is brightly lit thanks to various forms of magical light from glowing gems to ghostly fire. Only rural and peasant villages are as primitive as they appear, for the greater the population of magic users are the greater the amenities are in the area.

Foreign Relations

They take the tribesman who excel at martial combat and hire or enslave them to serve as their knights and as such have a tense relationship with the Tribal Council who run the Northern Lands. While outwardly amiable to The Paramita Sect who lead the monks of the Holy Lands they command several spies among both civilian and sect populations. Perhaps the only organization that the Imperial Family actually views as rivals worth taking seriously though are the Guilds who run The Capital, and a strong foothold there while maintaining lucrative trade deals with them.

Agriculture & Industry

While the peasants under each of the Arcane Families toil away in the meager agricultural land along the coast and rivers the majority of industry in the Eastern Empire lies in the magical Artifacts the Enchanters create, from wands and staves to powerful golems and all manner of wondrous items and potions in between crafted from the myriad magical components native to their enchanted forests.

Trade & Transport

Just like the Western Kingdom, the Eastern Empire maintain a constant trade fleet constantly moving to other regions, especially The Capital, including an impressive fleet of Airships which also fly between each of the major cities within the empire as well as to foreign lands. For those whom cannot afford such extravagant transport through Airships however, the naval power is no less powerful easily connecting most coastal cities by booking passage and the many bonded magical beasts and summoned familiars make land travel as easy any of the automobiles of the Western Kingdom.

Education

Peasants in the Eastern Empire receive little to no formal education, inheriting the trades of the forebears - however once a year the Magical Schools under the command of the Imperial Family enroll members after testing one's magical aptitude which can change a family's fortunes overnight. Meanwhile the Arcane Families receive a twofold education in their own family's traditions as well as at the Magical Schools - only the Imperial Family receives an education entirely within their own family's control, and this education is the best available within the Eastern Empire.

Infrastructure

The entire inhabited region of the Eastern Empire is dotted with imposing castles and towers belonging to sorcerers and Arcane Families connected with cobblestone paved roads. Every city is protected by imposing walls and magical barriers while each major city has multiple towers belonging to the most powerful organizations and arcanists as well as an Airship dock and coastal cities have ports for The Empire's fleets. This starkly contrasts with the vast untamed enchanted forests, treacherous eastern mountains, and the foreboding swamp to the north in which only a few fortified strongholds belonging to powerful Arcane Families and eccentrics.
