Comhairle na'Seanóirí

The Wise Ones keep a watchful and protective eye over the barbaric and untamed northern lands, guiding the various tribes in the ways of their ancestors and only uniting the north when danger presents itself.

Structure

Like most tribal societies Comhairle na'Seanóirí is a loose confederation of tribes where the most fit rule their individual tribe as Chief, advised by the Elders and Shamans. Chiefs change constantly as more powerful upstarts rise and take the seat, but those who live long enough to become an Elder join the Council which oversees the safety of the Soturi Ihmisiä.

Public Agenda

Generally the Comhairle na'Seanóirí only meet for two reasons, to solve internal disputes between tribes and to rally the tribes to fend off potential existential threats. Every tribe is autonomous and not even the highest authority in the land, The Wise Ones, directly rule.

History

First convened when the other nations grew powerful and greedy enough to set their eyes upon the north and planned to take advantage of the loose, tribal structure of the north and forced the otherwise warlike people to unite against a common enemy.

Demography and Population

Just like the Comhairle na'Seanóirí made up of the head elders, very few of the northern tribes settle down in one area and instead live a mostly nomadic lifestyle going between the various regions and predetermined campsites.

Territories

The vast untamed Primordial Wilderness is the land where their ancestors lived and struggled for survival and it is where they now too struggle to survive.

Military

While the north has no formal military, every tribesman is an elite warrior - man, woman, and child alike are forced to be powerful to survive the teeth and claws of the vicious beasts that share the land with them.

Foreign Relations

Northerners aren't overtly hostile to the other nations, but they view them as weaklings unable to survive in the north nor even put up a decent fight. There are, however, plenty of tribesman that decide to leave the north to make a name for themselves in the greater world and often serve as mercenaries and scouts.

Trade & Transport

With no need for money in their harsh environment the demand for outside resources is rare, and as such so is trade. In fact, nearly all trade in the north is controlled by only a few tribes whom live near the coastal regions. As a general rule the Comhairle na'Seanóirí of The Primordial Wilderness live off the land alongside their tamed Primordial Beasts, hunting and foraging and doing their best not to wind up in the stomach of a wild Primordial Beast. Whatever they need they collect themselves, letting nature and hard work provide.
