The Requian Coast (The [wreck-we-in] Coast)

The West Portion of Great Eethill's Southern Coast

The Requian Coast is the region that was unified by the Requian Empire until its fall in 102 A.G. Cliffs line the shores and climb up to a snowy plateau sticking out of the great stretch mountain that touches the west and east ends of the continent. Rivers flow down these cliffs as waterfalls that enter the Vedalion Ocean through forests of palm and teak trees.

Major Historical Events

First Kraken Attack (4 A.G.) - Four years after the end of the great slumber the people who awoke on the coast had developed small settlements throughout the coast's beaches and forests. These settlements were attacked by the Kraken, starting the lower fields, destroying them, and flooding them with sea water (becoming the marsh now known as the Footprints). The Kraken was charmed by a cleric who was then appointed as the coast's Kraken Priest. Ressurection of the Coast (71 A.G.) - Much of the coast's treasure was taken during the rule of dragons, and once the coast was liberated they were left to fix what their draconic tyrants left behind. The leading figure of this resurrection was Leigh Danson, a merchant turned lawyer who had allowed the coast's economy to prosper by organizing trade between its six kingdoms. He was later elected to be the first emperor of the Requian Empire built from the economic reconstruction.   The Golden Age of Piracy (74 A.G. - 89 A.G.) - The first dragon hoard discovered was found by a sailor named Yerg Yerginsten. The Empire, wanting to claim the hoard's riches and put it in the hands of its merchants began to chase Yerg for six years throughout the isles off the coast's shore. Yerg, though eventually caught, inspired many treasure hunters and thieves to take to the sea and to steal and loot, beginning the Golden Age of Piracy. The Age ended when the Pirate Syndicate made a deal with the Requian Empire to leave them in peace with the isles as their territory for the Empire and Navy to claim their defeat as a victory for the coast to maintain their grand reputation.   Second Kraken Attack (100 A.G. - 106 A.G.) - The day Fate died a light flooded the Barren causing a disruption in its magic, which caused the charm on the Kraken to disperse. The Kraken made its second attack on a weakened Requian Empire (just participated in the War of Eethill and was attacked by the Angelic Invasion immediately after). With the Kraken Priest no longer able to control it and the coast overpowered, the Empire fell. The Kraken was defeated when the sea goddess Shae joined the fray and forced the Kraken into a watery prison.   The Syndicate War (138 A.G. - Present) - When King of the Cliffs Leigh II was assassinated during the annual Shae Ball control of the Navy and the Kraken Cliffs was handed to Sea's Appeal who promptly began sending ships into the isles off the coast. With Urman ships already entering the area, the Pirate Syndicate no longer was willing to put up with the unknowing intruders in their territory, declaring war on the coast with an attack on the city of Seaview.
