The Requian Empire (wreck-we-um)

Because of its pirate problem, the Empire has a large sum of various treasures which was obtained after they arrested or hung the pirates who found/stole them. The Requian Empire also has the fastest ships in Great Eethill because of the empire's use of a sea stone modification under the hull. The stone's water resistance makes their ships glide on top of the water when entering higher velocities, and without the drag of the water, the ship only needs to utilize the wind which can be produced magically by crew members.

Formation

In 68 A.G. the Requian Coast was reclaiming their kingdoms from Tiamat's minions. This was impossibly difficult to achieve as the dragons took all their gold and money and put it into their own hoards. With each kingdom lacking a resource another has, they weren't willing to buy it because they were poor, and they weren't willing to trade resources because they believed they needed everything they had. Leigh Danson saw this problem and wrote many letters to the kings, sharing many ideas for trade and arguments about how much of certain resources are actually needed and should be traded for the greater good. The kings found his ideas interesting and had council with him, eventually, they returned their home to normal. Because of his brilliance, Leigh was selected to be an official maker of laws concerning matters between kingdoms. Because of this power, he eventually was considered Emperor, but not officially recognized as one until the kingdoms agreed to merge into an empire in 71 A.G.  

The Great Pirate Hunt

After Emperor Leigh stabilized the economy most people were satisfied. However, not all were, a man by the name of Yerg Yerginsten wanted to find the dragon's treasure hoard and take the gold that the kingdoms lost all that time ago. Eventually in 74 A.G., he found a majority of it on an island not far from the coast. He filled his ship and began to return home. When he docked his ship rumors began to run rampant, which soon spread to the ears of the Emporer. Leigh declared the gold he found to belong to the Empire and for Yerg to surrender it immediately. Yerg disagreed and escaped with the gold out to sea. After six years of chasing, Yerg was eventually caught and the gold was brought back to the Empire. However, many were inspired by Yerg's clever deceptions and tactics to avoid the navy for six years, making almost every criminal believe that they could too. This began an era of pirates trying to find more dragon hoards and steal the Empire's great sum of gold.

In 99 A.G. the Mortal Realm was attacked by an army of angels, causing death and destruction across Great Eethill. But as the light of fate ate the Barren, it caused a particularly awful disaster. The magic awoke the Kraken sleeping under the waves just off the coast and freed it of the seals that kept it that way. The Kraken devastated the land and caused the empire to fall. Now only King Leigh II (the son of Emperor Leigh) wants to rebuild the Empire.

The empire currently resides in the Kraken Cliffs, one of six kingdoms within the Requian Coast. Ruled by the founder's son King Leigh II, he wants to rebuild the empire and refuses the theocracy the other five kingdoms have decided to become.

Though the empire has an army, it's usually disassembled until wartime. Otherwise, a soldier's acting duty is to be guards of the settlements under the empire. What the empire is really known for is the Requian Navy, which during times of peace hunts pirates and sea monsters that plague the coast.

The empire believes that everyone should have the right to worship any god or goddess they wish. This is why most think the empire wasn't rebuilt after the invasion because they freely let worshipers of the The Queen of Waves spread their religion and create the Sea's Appeal. Most within the empire believe in the Rain Twins as keeping the weather gods favorable would give could winds and little storms.

The empire has a heavily organized system of trade between all of Great Eethill using merchant ships. This especially has caused a greater infestation of pirates in the empire's waters and giving an even greater importance to the Requian Navy.
