Sea's Appeal

After the light of fate ate the realms, the Kraken of the Requian Empire awoke and broke out of the seals that kept it at bay. It rose out of the water and devastated the land. After six years, everyone lost hope. That was until the Goddess of the Seas, the Queen of Waves fought the Kraken and took it down into the depths of a cold salty grave with her. Since then the coast feared that the Kraken would return again, and that's when the Queen's worshipers took advantage. They began Sea's Appeal, an organization dedicated to appeasing the goddess and giving her the power to keep the Kraken at bay, which ended up meaning taking over the majority of the Requian Coast.

Structure

There are three kinds of worshipers:

Casual Worshipers

Are those who don't work for the temples but still visit and worship the Queen outside. These people are usually citizens who fear the wrath of the Kraken.

Temple Members

Temple members are the ones who are assigned to a temple and do jobs for the Appeal. People of this type have little to no divine power from worship and include Clerics and Priests.

Political Members

These members are those who work to govern the Requian Coast with the word of the Queen. This includes the sovereign, guards, and the High Priest.

Tenets of Faith

The Worshipers of the Queen of Waves have seven laws.

Tenet of the Dead

When one dies, their body must be given to the sea so that they may enter the heavens of the Queen of Waves.

Tenet of Sacred Waters

One shall not enter the salty water of the sea if it is not for a trial of devotion. If one does, they must never return.

Tenet of Sacred Friends

The murder or consumption of sea creatures is a crime punished by an eye for an eye but in reverse.

Tenet of Blessed Vessels

A ship must be blessed by a cleric before it touches the water.

Tenet of Devotion

To show one's worship for the waves, thy must be submerged in sacred water for sixty seconds under every new moon.

Tenet of Purification

Speaking bad or in vain of the Queen must be paid in a cup of sacred water.

Tenet of Protection

If the time comes for one to choose between a fellow servant of the sea, and one not of faith, thow must choose faith.

Priesthood

Priests run each temple (with each member of the higher worship to be assigned to one) and can only be ordered by the High Priest and the Queen of Waves. Once ready to retire, a priest selects one of his disciples and trains them. Once the priest deems their training complete, they have them visit the High Priest to be blessed and to be officialized as a priest. If a priest would retire without a trainee, one of the High Priest's guards will take the place of the acting priest until they find a suitable replacement.

Granted Divine Powers

Worshiping the Queen of Waves gives you access to rituals (for things such as blessings and ocean navigation), those who are more devout or make an oath to her can gain holy power and or holy spells.
