Tartarus

Outpost and space station owned and operated by the Pacifica Liberation Front. It is hidden away in a location that has no known gate nearby, thus is very hard to track down without a pre-programed Navbox. Tartarus is within range of several jump gates however, meaning that those operating outside of the base can quickly jump to the nearby systems.   Tartarus was once a research outpost, long before the silence. It is well hidden by the wild paracausal anomalies that emit from the Abyss. These anomalies keep them off the radar of most long range scanners, however it can be dangerous to and from the hidden base, as the anomalies keep creeping closer and closer to Tartarus. The station was meant to obvserve the paracasual entities and cosmic filaments that extend from Abyss. Tartarus is caught in a loose orbit around the black hole, though it is slow moving. Records of the station exist, but trying to find the station after thousands of years of movement is an incredibly diffcult task.   The infamous Dagger Squadron calls Tartarus home. It is rumored that there is a gate that can be found from tartarus, that allows Dagger Squadron to use the Abyss to jump anywhere in the galaxy in a matter of hours. Some critics say this is the excuse of every imperial officer, who dares not admit on any official report that they suffered losses to anything less than the most elite rebel forces. However, even the Ungratefuls have reported the wings of the "ghosts of Abyss" flying above them in times when they were needed most.   It is also rumored that there is a smuggler ring operating out of Tartarus, smuggling Spice and other narcotics into the Core Systems. It has proven difficult to pinpoint the location of this hidden base, though the Imperial Intelligence Service is fully aware that it does indeed exist.
