Runehaus

Runehaus is an independent world, rooted deep in ancient tradition and on the footstep of imperial conquest. They have long remained defiant, through faith and strength of arms. Their world is dotted in planetary defenses, and most of their cities are deep under the waves. Their government is repressive and authoritarian, but their people prefer the rule of the council over that of the empire.   It is rumored that the council has access to access to an ancient AI from before the silence. The Cult of Chronos believe a fragment of chronos is held on Runehaus. Their is a cult dedicated to the AI on the surface of the planet, they work tireless to ensure its safety and to interpret its data, which is increasingly more and more corrupted.   This access to an ancient AI has given them pieces of technology that the empire could only dream of aquiring. Void shields, advanced promethium distillation, complicated long range drone construct and all kinds of other knowledge that imperial scientists can only steal.   Runehaus is heavily isolated, and under imperial sanctions. No ships are technically allowed in and out of Runehaus, and the imperial navy maintains a regular blockade around the planet. Any attempt for invasion have ended in disaster for the empire, and a forced pullback of their forces. Military scholars estimate it would take the combined effots of both the 3rd and 7th imperial fleets, alongside millions of imperial army assets to fully occupy the planet. A great undertaking that would likely only benefit the whoever the current emperor would be.
