Cradle

One of the largest planets in the Union of Socialist Systems, Cradle is considered a cultural and governmental hub. It has a wide variety of people, a product of their proximity to Free Space. Many refugees, immigrants and wanderers will find their way to Cradle, as it is located right at the mouth of Sovereign Space near the Republican Remnant.

An Ecosystem Returned

Cradle was previously known as, "Mining World - IV", and it was renamed after the planet had been liberated during the Outer Rim Unrest, and formed an alliance with its neighbor, Beacon. Beacon's ecologists and terraformers eventually made their way to Cradle. Pollution and waste had choked the air of the planet with pollution, but select groups of communes had dug out hidden "Cradles", under the planets surface, forming greenhouses preserving the local flora and fauna they could.   The ecologists and terraformers from Beacon were astonished that most of the planets rich and diverse ecology was reformed, and their ecology could be restored in mere decades because of this. They renamed the planet to Cradle to honor their contributions. Cradle now resembles the planet as it used to when the Wanderers first found their way here. It is rich in life and rich in community. Most people here form farmer communes, growing foods with the assistance of heavily automated Drone Constructs, they grow so much food that they regularly ship it out throughout the galaxy, free of cost.

Life on Cradle

Sanctuaries

The Sanctuaries are urbanized centers where a vast majority of the population live. While urbanized, they are spread out and built around walkable localized communites that build up a larger connected network. The Ministry of Plenty relies on many of these cities to help organize and fill their breadbasket ships. Most of these arrive to Cradle in great festivals, where sanctuaries fill these ships and send them into space hoping for a brighter future. Many of these festivals revolve around the families and peoples who have come from far away to call Cradle their home. Some of them might have left family and friends behind, on worlds lightyears away. The breadbaskets are packed with foods, gifts, messages and all other manner of goods.

Temples

Be'Teu temples operate around the rural areas on Cradle. They are supported by the local Union government officials, however, Be'Teu guardians are not allowed to act as peacekeepers within Union space officially. Instead, they operate refugee centers and care networks for psionically gifted individuals. These temples are some of the oldest in the order, having been established before the silence. The temples also serve as massive libraries, respositories of old Be'Teu teachings and knowledge that are kept on Cradle for safekeeping. They were moved from Chandrill during the Third Crisis of the Grand Republic of Free Systems.
