Vingolf

Vingolf is an ice ball orbiting a blue star at the fringe of the Terminus Systems. It is a Free System, home to the Vingolf Republic. They are nestled along the borders of the Outer Rim and thus had remained isolated for many years, even after the silence had ended. It is a hardy place, with many challenges for the humans that live here.  

Ecosystem and Geography

  Slightly larger than earth, 94% of the planet is covered in Ice. The 6% that is not covered in ice is mostly tundra jungles centered around the equator itself. Giant thermal vents create pockets of jungles hidden beneath the ice, forming unique steamy biodomes. These ice biodomes are filled with not only leafy greens but also massive fungi and fauna.    

Settlements

  Most settlements are located around the equator, where the melting ice has helped create beautiful ice rainforests, lush with greenery and xenobiology. They hide under ice sheaths which have grown over the tops of these forests. The settlements away from the equators are either mining towns or military facilities. There is also a growing underground population, making use of huge geothermal vents to power these cities.   Valhalna is the capitol city of the planet, and home to nearly 2 billion souls.
