Straatos

Straatos is the capital of the Grand Republic of Free Systems, and local hub for trade and culture in Free Space. It has a long and storied history, a colony first established by Thondorian colonists, Straatos soom came under the growing influence of the United Republic as a charter world. It flourished as a central trade point of the Fasaryr Run and the Spice Road. Some posited that Straatos could come to rival even New Babylon itself, given enough time.   Straatos were the first to resist when the Republic collapsed into the empire. They worked alongside the Union in order to establish a defensive hold around Free Space, and Straatos contributed a great amount of soldiers to helping fight in the First Imperial Civil War. It was on Straatos where the disparate senators, governors and monarchs of the local systems gathered together to form the provisional government, and draft what would become the constitution of the republican remnant. It is home to Republican culture, and has only continued to grow since then.
