House of Dreaming

The House of Dreaming was founded to help allocate specialties of the spiritual kind for the empire. Long in the past, numerous tribes of reketta expressed fondness for a state of dreaming beyond normal, where magic could be tapped into and influence the material world. So when the empire was formed, it wasn't too long in that they established a noble house that honed in on teaching, monitoring, and guiding dreamer activity. They became known essentially as an institution that would take in outsiders for a high price, while those born in are granted easy access to study and promote their own trials to see how they fare within magical dreaming. Other houses may still allow dreamers, but to mixed reception, and often not with encouraged training. For example a number of Feather gilders may be Dreaming inspired, or a few warring captains may wish to try and get involved to see the outcome of a future battle.   The house was founded with a few pillars in mind, between work of the first and second Empress.
  1. To Harbor and invest in the best magic for the Empire.
  2. To teach and restrain those ill with magic.
  3. To spread imperial positivity in the Veil space
  4. Instill perfect concentration - Wake or sleep.
Essentially it boils down to magically empowering studies of the empire, to handle magic inclined issues or hostiles, and that the Veil space and planes should have a good impression with the empire. The final point is more about holding general health. Appointed around the time of creation at 15CSP, came the Tri-guard that enforces authority within the house by a judged appointment. Each one is supposed to be trained with a distinct perspective. There's Judgement, Stars, and Ink, with Judgement being the most plain. The core named judge is supposed to be the ambassador for the empress, and to see things in plain views. The guard of Stars is the one more keen on seeing things from the perspective of magic. Guard of Ink, works between the two guards and what is written in papers be it law or for rules or understandings of magic itself.   From foundation to present, the house remains the first to start and end in a mostly decentralized state, whereas others like Mind merely evolved that way. House of Dreaming started as two smaller projects in Glysia, and one in a grassland village later called S'avihara where former residents held to some conservative tribal approaches of the practice. Oddly, it was the further house of S'avihara that has expanded the most, cropping up as close neighbors more often guarded by House of Dragon. This is considered the approximate 'home' and capital state where more selective decisions are made. By the year 400CSP, the institution was responsible for at least half of S'avihara's general improvements and upkeep, and was virtually considered 'their town' territory.    The organization has still integrated many smaller facilities and hatcheries across the years, with a lot of copied bookwork and transfers going around a full network, implemented across to help care for the goods and problems of Dreaming - and to sell services in divinations. They do however remain without a strong native defense, and often leverage the local forces, or entrust a few of their own with some minor training. In a lot of ways this method of vast networks with weaker fortressing puts them at equal and common comparison with the likes of House of Mind.

Structure

There are a few special titles recognized within the house. They include the following...
  • Chaomancer: Any form of those able to practice magic outside of dreaming.
  • Wakers: The most common form of pupil that studies and works for Dreaming, perhaps with lucid visions, but not a solid form of power. May just be interested in the science or worship of the veil.
  • Star-Eyes: A Star-eye is someone that has indulged themselves in dreaming with enough power to produce effects. Divination of a vague form is most common, but some can also send messages, or even rearrange small material matters through their dream format.
  • Arkaners: A rare and more worrying few that have mastered the format of magic in and out of dreaming to warp and distort reality at a more casual rate.

Culture

House of Dreaming tends to cultivate the mind towards comfortable environments, herbal fragrances, teas, and scripture studies on terms with the Veil, and the god with a keenly more niche focus on Polmressa. As such, they tend to adopt an aesthetic somewhere between Houses of Feather & Mind, looking both stylized and intellectual, while less armed and more of an institution onto the public rather than general leaders.
