House of Blade

House of Blade is a noble house - a house of power with no regal or monarchy ruling system of worthy mention - that came in the early periods of the empire. It was founded initially as an inn and barracks for soldiers, kept by a wealthy commoner by the name of Lagra'ki The Stonehead. Forced conscripting and remodeling of all armed forced with a female majority was still a tad contentious with some territories and individuals at the time. Lagra'ki took great offense to the empress' ideals, and began a training system meant to only mold males as professional warriors (though there is confusion over if he became discriminating across his whole business). He got publicly outspoken, and divisive in asserting that only males should be promoted as defenders, arguing things like their biological strength, and that it was 'true tradition' of the race from a tribal period. He never settled for the hen model of security through numbers.   Lagra'ki eventually angered the wrong people, was challenged and hurt in a dual, and later dying of related medical complications. His oldest son was reached by word of empress Reketta herself, given the opportunity to heal the clan name, and to brand their business as a major imperial military institution, but only with full compliance to military regulation - hen conscription included. In fact, Emperess Reketta sought it as the primary spot for conscripted commoners out of major places like the capital. Lagra'ki might be metaphorically rolling in his grave, but his house would truly go on to become the most renowned for warriors and common infantry warfare for centuries.   House of Blade retains a regional territory that trains, takes in, and relocates a strong and special branch of varying soldiers, lead at any one time with one of three captains at the top role. Hens are specially selected year around, with many eggs going to form the military backbone. Natural born blades are classified as Fireseeds, with conscripted outside hens or adopted eggs being called Clean-shells. Their crest emblem is a crossed longsword and spear, with a Gilda Hammer at the center often depicted more as a beaming sun on a staff.

Culture

Their culture is stuck heavily to war, and pride alike. They hold very regal bearings, with the nobles and breeders alike often remarked to be very posh, while housing more brash if tactful warriors. Their culture evolves around studying a variety of things related to war, including economics, metals, spark casting, and history. Many of the common military working under Blade are used to moving around nomadically, being stationed to new patrol routes, camps, to battle, or back to the main house and barracks.

Military

* = They must be Fireseed of hatched origins to become truly integrated into this role.

Core Infantry Roles

*Captain: Captains may only exist up to three per active duty, meaning that until a captain dies or retires, they are among the one of three allowed to exist at the time. This is to tighten grips on control, information, lineage, and importance. Their authority is above everything aside from word of the Lord & Lady supreme of the house.   Tang: A tang (Named after part of the sword that may hold the blade together) is roughly some form of commander on active field, with some soldiers even commonly cast as temporary tangs to hold and organize a large unit together that could not work through a captain's job or placement. These soldiers hold many smaller powers of orders and directives, but may also be reduced to simple direction pushers, captain messengers, or even scapegoats for a bad situation.   Serrator: Serrators (named after serrated edges for intensive bleeding) are a classification of elite infantry. Typically these soldiers have been serving for a while, or endured longer sessions of advanced teachings. They are entrusted with often higher end utensils, the lowest position trained to wield the Titoren crossbow or artillery, and are sometimes deployed with a career tang for small task force operations to eliminate a small seperatist group, stealth raids, or accompanying longer voyages with other teams like Salt's navy.   Soldier: The common soldier, as self-explained. They lack a fancy name for better or worse, with some few instances loosely dubbing them as "Swords".   Whetstone: The rank of Whetstone (from a stone used to sharpen tools and blades) is the name given to rookies, new recruits, and virgin soldiers. Often of the protege age range, these Reketta are still training often on site, or in a camp location, with lots of instructions and superiors to listen and yield to. After a set amount of time, and their first successful battle or military task, they move up to the rank of soldier.

Special Duties & Maintenance

Tech-Growler: Techgrowlers are those specializing in anything ranging from engineering, to weapon-smithing. They design and build what the empire needs or uses, and innovates on different things, including work that lead to the inception of the Titoren crossbow, and Tekke'ki saber. Tech-growler was not always an officially designated role, with builders just doing things as common-folk, but the duty was cast and needed after relations with an exterior smithing clan turned more complicated.   Beast Master: Trains various animals of burden, ranging from the small personal livestock, to duties like training falcons, drake steeds, etc. Sometimes their part also serves in riding the mounts, and they're as trained as a soldier or Serrator.   *Bannermane: Roughly captain of the off-field work. Bannermanes are the pride carriers, flag wavers, speech givers, and outside representatives of the house name. They host gatherings, hold council with other nobles for House interest, and are responsible to inspire and care for soldier morale. Like captains, only a few such are necessary for one time.   *Warlock: Soldiers or talented daring commoners who have put their use or know of casting, illusion, or dreaming studies, onto that of the field itself. Magic isn't a strong force in the military, but there are times when one is valued. Complications have arose out of the nature that the Blade name only allows Fireseeds to this role, but often will hire or compensate Dreaming house people for the task like mercenaries with less credit.   Earthsmith: In later periods, around the 5th empress, the house was encouraged and paid to bring about a duty to reconstruct war property. In the end, the Blades end up being of legal authority to influence, start, or alter construction, with Earthsmiths being the architects for the job.   *Vulture: Similar to the Skulker role from House of Hunt, Vultures are fireseeds raised with an inclination to be sneakier assassins, often paired with Serrators on raids for full effect.

House of war, for empire galore.
