Windseer
The Windseer is the chief theocratic political figure of the High Court of Featherfall and the nation of Eliond. They report directly to the Exalt of Eliond.
Qualifications
An individual must have served in the clergy of the Church of Aquila for a period of at least ten years before they can be eligible for the position of Windseer. They also must possess the ability to hear Aquila's messages in the wind.
Appointment
The appointment of a Windseer is conducted by the Exalt of Eliond on one of two occasions:
- The previous Windseer dies or elects to retire.
- A new Exalt is named, and elects to remove the previous Windseer with backing from the Prime Justiciar.
Upon appointment, the Windseer is anointed in the Eaglereach Cathedral by present members of the clergy.
Duties
It is the Windseer's duty to advise the Exalt and other members of the High Council on matters of morality, as well as ensure religious practice is upheld in the nation. Additionally, a Windseer may serve as a mediary between the Exalt and the wind goddess herself, delivering messages of importance upon becoming aware of them.
History
The position of Windseer predates even the early High Council; according to the church, a Windseer has been present since the first settlement of the Peninsulan Provinces.
