Exalt's Eye
The Exalt's Eye serves as chief spymaster in the nation of Eliond, and stands as a unique position in the High Court of Featherfall. They are appointed directly by the Exalt.
Qualifications
There are no formal qualifications for the title of Exalt's Eye; appointment is solely up to the discretion of the Exalt.
Appointment
The Exalt's Eye is appointed exclusively by the Exalt; as a matter of practice, the identity of the Eye is not disclosed to the High Court.
Duties
The chief duty of the Exalt's Eye is to protect the Exalt from both foreign and domestic threats. This includes threats from other members of the High Court.
Responsibilities
In addition to performing their cheif duty, the Exalt's Eye holds the following responsibilities:
- Espionage. The Eye is tasked with gathering and informing the Exalt of any information that may be relevant to the safety and security of the nation.
- Informal Diplomacy. In situations of delicate foreign relations, the Eye is tasked with orchestrating diplomatic acts of strategy and betterment on behalf of the Exalt.
- Benevolent Sabotage. If the Exalt's Eye is made aware of the intent pf another to commit a treacherous act, they are granted full discretion to take any necessary preventative action.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
An Exalt's Eye may be removed by the Exalt at any time, but the Eye may not resign their position under any circumstances. Once the commitment to perform the Eye's duties is made, that individual is bound by law and honor to continue that commitment until they are no longer capable of doing so, dead or otherwise.
There is, however, one exception to this agreement that has not yet seen use.
