Prime Chamberlain

No formal requirements exist for the Prime Chamberlain, but robust experience in finance and commerce is often sought by Exalts seeking to assign the title. In recent years, attendees of the University of Commerce in Entre have been the most desired applicants.

The Prime Chamberlain is appointed directly by the Exalt. Upon assignment, the Prime Chamberlain is briefed by the High Court and related nobility of the financial state of the nation and assumes leadership over the numerous financial networks they are charged with.

The chief responsibilities of the Prime Chamberlain are as follows:

1. Records of the Treasury. The Prime Chamberlain must keep detailed records of the city and nation's finances, tracking debt, spending, and reserves.
2. Tax Administration. All taxes, levies, and fines in the nation are administered and collected following the processes set by the Prime Chamberlain.
3. Financial Distribution. All funding that is disbursed from Featherfall is reviewed and approved by the Prime Chamberlain, including aid sent to struggling Elevancies.
4. Guild Relations. The Prime Chamberlain works in tandem with the Prime Provost to maintain the High Court's relationship with merchant guilds both within and outside of the nation.

The Exalt may dismiss the Prime Chamberlain at any time, with no legal or moral justification needed. Dismissal does not occur frequently, as the position requires a significant degree of familiarity with the nation's finances to perform adequately.
