Humans/ Kith
Humans in Gand colloquially refer to themselves as 'kith' and use the term 'kin' when decribing close friend or family members. The term human may occasionally be tossed around in text-forms or by the older residents of Gand, but most use 'kith' as a term of identity.
The name Kith
The name kith came from an orcish term meaning 'aquaintence' or 'friend' during the early days on immigration it was the Orcs that offered the humans shelter and supplies despite knowling little about each other. Initally tense about the about the intentions of the human the orcs sent out their Aspers to act as an emissary and show of vulnerability. The humans initially struggled the breach the language divide between the two races but were able to use magic and scholars to cultivate a common language between the two which i known as 'common tongue' today. The name kith stuck and so the humans adopted it when referring to themselves and even other humans outside of Gand, it became a mark of the human spirit and will. Most use the term 'Kith' over 'human' as it is a more contemporty term, the word kith is self-pluralising and be used on any number, things that are directly relating to the kith. Such as culture, arts, language or society may be referred to as 'kitham'. Some kith such of Gand use also use the term kitham as an interchangeable plural.Kith History
Kith have lived in Gand since the Early Era of around 300 EE after migrating from the much colder north continent as the two landmasses broke apart. The Humans traveled through barren valleys and steep mountains before finding areas they could rest and build homes. During this migration period many of the early humans witnessed cosmic events like stars falling and the sky turning unnatural colours. This led to the cultivation belief in Tarn, the Cosmic Weaver Which became the dominant religon. They soon came into contact with the Blooded Branch Orcs who became their first contact with the residents of Gand, the orcs immediately set up marking out territory lines and agreements. The kith found the orcs to be shrewd but fair and in the face of their superior might and development agreed to foster a treaty. The first substantial settlement to emerge was the city of Lull which has since become a lost city. This was then followed by Wintrow which remains the oldest surviving city. The humans also developed roads and cave structures to cut through the many mountainous reigons. Some one hundred year later and the land would become aquainted with a new arivee to Gand, the Elves, beginning the EoE (or Era of Elf). Who rapidly began expansion even encroaching into the kith territory, this led to the The Kitham-Elven Conflict where both species ultimately brokered peace with the kith claiming right to all of their above ground territories an the elves permitted to build underground. Some fifty years following the resolution and the elves would contract The Elven Plague which would wipe out their species in a matter of days. After this sickness burned itself out the humans would open their underground settlements and use it for thei own expansion building railway tunnels and cities including Zentawen where the The Royal Family resides this led to the current progressive age for kith entering in the current era EoM (or Era of Man). Which has recently been shaken up with the introduction of an even newer race the Goblins. The Kith and Gand
The Kith as an incredibly ambitious and resilient people they have a propensity for expanding and enjoy building new technologies. They are resilient and keen at picking up almost any skill set despite having the shortest lifespan. They are the largest population in Gand And have the most variety of any species with humans coming in a diverse range of morphology with the most displays of superficial differences like size, tone and feature. Kith as a race have a notorious mean streak and their favourite adversary is other kith they will squabble over seemingly mundane things but will bond together at the drop of a hat. They can often have a flippant memory and very few feuds last for multiple generations, they tend to be the most diverse in matters of class, culture and reigon with the majority of kith suscribed to The Church of Tarn faith. The kith also have the most complicated forms of society with consideration for class, religon, and governance. They have specific cultural practices relating to Burial Rites, developed Currencies and a process of Trade Systems and etiquette.. They have a wealth-driven divide in their class system which is also impacted by royal lineage and generational powes. They are run by a monarchy and are led by the The Royal Family. The Kith and Magic
Kith have a somewhat complicated relationship with magic, most have a natural affinity for the magic arts and are able to ultilise some form of spell work. This like many traits can vary between individuals with some having immense natural ability, such as that of a tacit caster, and those who have none like the castless. Most kith are able to use externally drafted spells like a Rune or a Scroll. Culturally magic is seen as something highly taboo and fearful and the practitioners of magic have been persecuted of forced into hiding. This is due to paranoia sorrounding magic-borne sickness and a decades-long smear campaign engineered by the Brotherhood of Tarn which also calls for the persecution of the worship of other kith-led faiths like that of Xegruni.Basic Information
