Summercamp homework
Week 1
My world looks a lot like the fairytale forest inside the television series Once Upon a Time...
Which means all the Kingdoms of the Disney Princess and other old fairytale creatures are connected in one way or another.
And drama is one of the main plot twists in every story. People want love, food, stable home, money. But of course this is not always the case, some people will turn towards the Old Gods, which in many countries is a forbidden act. Or through other means.
I have plenty of old article's inside this world, but not all of them are my own. I share this world with two other writers. Also, not all the story lines are written in stone. So there will be times when I need to do some maintenance, but I will see that down the road. The Meta is up-to-date at the moment.
Week 2
I am going to look at folklore from other cultures, not only the western fairytales. Here is a small list of examples;
- Red Riding hood (with werewolves)
- Princess pea
- Alice in Wonderland
- The Child with a Moon on his Chest (Sotho)
- The Stallion Houssan
- Tale of the Doomed Prince
- Tale of two brothers
- Story of Ahikar
- Goldy locks
- The Bronze Ring
- Beauty and the Pock Face
- The King of Snakes
- Silver hair and Golden Curls
- Fire Boy
- The Stonecutter
- Straw Millionaire
- The Wife of the Dragon Palace
This world isn't purely my own, I share it with others as well. But I like my homepage, it draws questions. Which stories are we going to change, how are they changing. And are the Princesses we know and love truthly the villains, or are they just victims of their surroundings
For the most part is that my English has improved, now that I use it on a daily basis. Learning/ using it as a second language has its difficulties. Also, I repeated myself in the same article. This time I am going to try to make this article's interactive. With conversations, between characters and some story telling as well. Each article will have their own fairytale story opening, and story elements that will draw people in.
Week 3
People are currently changing faiths, or rather are forced to change. The Old Gods like Persephone and Hades are pushed back towards myths and legends. Slowly, they are loosing power and respect for humanity. Only The Touched are able to wield magic, which is some Kingdoms is forbidden. The Touched are burning at stakes, slowly the fairytale forest is being deprived of magic and wonder. Forcing those who practice magic to hide, sometimes in places like the Black Forest. Like the Witch of the Gingerbreadhouse, Merlinand Morgana. Or sometimes with a prayer to the Old Gods to hide in plain sight.
Choosing new author's and learning from their style is something I try to do with every new story that I write. Currently, I am working on a project that is pretty much Blue Anvil. So I read a lot of inside that genre, like Lauren Gilmore (Pumpkin spice Café), and Callie Hart (Quicksilver). But I am also dipping my toes into cozy fantasy, with thanks to Sarah Beth Durst (Spellshop) and Travis Baldree (Legends and Lates). This is so that I do not limit myself to only one thing and keep things fresh.
But what have I learned from them...
That a lot of things are keyed into the smallest of details. How characters interact, or how a small item can be a game (story) changer.
I wish I got the time to read, I really do. I barely had time to do this homework, but I always love to see Wordigirl's, and Dazzlinkat's articles. They are full of stuff I wished I had thought of, or if I ever am able to understand CSS to implement myself.
Week 4
I love the saying
Yesterday has passed, today is the present, but tomorrow is a dream.I probably misquote that, but it basically means that we do not know tomorrow brings. So I really want to keep that in mind as a pantser. So that I do not overwhelm myself. What does that mean for the Hydra list that is called the stub list will keep on growing, and I have tried in the past to cut it down. But just like a Hydra, more stubs are shooting back up. So I am going to fill them out if needed, and I am also going to try to keep their creation to the minimum.
When I got the assessment, I looked at my desk and saw that it was a mess. So I quickly cleaned that up, now for my schedule. I am going to stream for the Game of Tomes.
So I am going to that time to get my work done. Here is a link for those who want to join me: https://www.twitch.tv/purpleheart_nathaliabooks. I stream around 10:00 AM UTC to 12:00 PM UTC.
So like I love to say

That is pretty easy
For those who do not know it, and are not willing to click on the world block.
It is a game where our creative words are the points. During the Tourney of Tailes (April and July), the house with the most points wins. Only during November there are Zombies involved.
We are a crazy bunch, and we get work done. There is some lore and I am responsible for the summercamp badge parade.

Copper Nourishment
8 Prompts
2 Wild Card Prompts
Theme Description
We’re starting with… food! Ok, not just food. In fact, this theme is way more general than it seems! For example, technology is “nourished” by an energy source, plants feed on sunlight, and it’s often said that philosophy and spirituality “nourish the soul”. Basically, anything that gets “consumed” for a positive effect is nourishment, physically or metaphorically. Yes, this theme goes pretty deep—you could almost say it’s food for thought!
Silver Roots
8 Prompts
2 Wild Card Prompts
Theme Description
Roots are foundations, the beginnings of things. And that's worldbuilding gold! The past is gone, but its effects are felt throughout history. And while the past is messy and full of events that shouldn’t repeat, it’s also the reason we are where we are—standing on the shoulders of giants! So, for this theme, we’re going back to the roots of your world and exploring where your characters and cultures come from. You don’t need to write a detailed history, but thinking about the origins of things will make the present time of your world all the more real and interesting.
Gold Metamorphosis
8 Prompts
2 Wild Card Prompts
Theme Description
While our roots are ever present, the world slowly transforms and takes on new forms. And so should your world, if you want it to feel a living dynamic place! A metamorphosis isn’t a mere change, it’s natural evolution, or transformation with intent. It’s not about what changes, but about why it changes—and why some people don’t want this transformation to happen! Knowing the roots of your setting will be really helpful here, as you need to know where you’re coming from to understand what will change.
Diamond Tomorrow
8 Prompts
2 Wild Card Prompts
Theme Description
Last week we talked about the past… this week, let’s look ahead! What does the future hold for your world’s people? And what do they think the future looks like? People’s perception of their future is usually heavily influenced by the current state of the world, so you’ll need an understanding of the present in order to write about the future! The future also rarely ends up being what we expect it to be—so to make this more realistic, make sure what people expect from the future is different from your actual plans!
