Priests of Kisin

All the men inside El-dorado that are part of The Touched are more then quelified to claim the post of priests.   None of the women who are part of the Touched are allowed to become a priest, this is because women need to stay home and take care of the children, and the home.  

The path of priest starts really when the men are todlers, after they have being tested for their magical powers. Then they are being educated until they are ready to take up the mantle of priest. That is also the same day they are getting married to a maiden, which is hopefully also a touched. To create future priests.   Or those with less sucsess are becoming guards, that need to uphold the law.   Then there is not really a step up, besides the postion of High Priest. Only that position is chosen by democratic vote, only it isn't as cut and dry.   The Priest needs to be atleast 45 years of age, must have multiple (atleast three) that are touched. And then there comes the point that the other priests need to like you, while many of them want that position for themselves.

The Temple of Kisin provides the priests with housing and a nice salary of 400 gold pieces a month. Which is a very good salary, and to be fair it is the best salary inside the city. Besides the High priest who get 800 gold pieces.     The guards are not so lucky, they do not get housing. But they are getting a wife, because they are still able to create more priests.

Priest are not only worshipping the God Kisin, their magic is needed to hold up the magical barrier that makes the city invisible for outsiders. Then there is also the fact that the young priests need eduction. So that is also provided by the priests themselves. There is no shortness of taks that needed to be done inside the many temples across the city.   The gaurds are partroling the boards of the city, and also up hold the law to arrest people who broke it. They also help hunters with hunting the jungle for meat, and skins. to feed their people.

Priests have a high status and are seen as nobility. No body inside the city dares to cross one of them. Not even the gaurds, who are not seens as nobels, but still feared and respected.
