Dodo

The dodo was a bird that wasn't able to fly and was preseved as a not very bright. At first the creature walked around in the wild, but over time it became domesticated, just like the chicken. Only it was believed that there was something special with this bird, especially the meat. It was believed that the meat was able to give you magical abilities. Which was just an old wives tale, but unfortantly it resulted in the birds EXTINCTION.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The bird was family f the pigeon, and was not able to fly even though it had wings. But the creature was to fat, and their wings were not able to carry them further then a few centimeters at best.   They were fast runners though, and they were able to outrun preditors.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dodo's reproduced throw eggs, which were the same size as chicken eggs. The shell had a bit of a yellow/golden color, but other then that there was nothing special to it.

Ecology and Habitats

Dodo's lived all over the place, where there were pigeons, there were dodo's as well. Later they were housed in special coops, to keep them safe.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Dodo's eat berries and other veggies to stay alive. But after a while they even started to eat chicken feed, which fattened them up even more.

Domestication

People believed that the dodo was a helpless animal, without the ability to fly to safe itself from preditors. And they felt sorry for the animal, so they started to catch it and put them by the chickens. Which didn't go well at all, the chickens started to fight the dodo's, so they needed their own coop. After that the amount of wild dodo's shrunk until there were none left. But in captivity the dodo's weren't better off.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Dodo's were kept for their eggs, meat and their featers.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Dodo's lived with the humans for generations, and started to depand on them for food. Which resulted in their down fall.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The dodo's feathers were beautiful and looked much like that of a parrot. The standard colors after domestication, was a dark blue, with a white throath. Some believe that it had something to do with what Humanswere feeding them.
