Archon of the Dragonguard (ˈɑrkɒn)
In the Dragonguard Alliance organization, the highest ranking official is known as the Archon. As the highest authority figure, the Archon is responsible for issuing directives to all the military units operating within the alliance. Furthermore, the Archon plays a crucial role in the council or board of directors, contributing to strategic decision-making processes.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Archon also assumes the vital task of overseeing the alliance's military operations, ensuring that all activities align with the alliance's objectives and values. It's noteworthy that the Archon exercises direct control over all units except the Dragonguard Sentinels.
Qualifications
To become the Archon of the Dragonguard, a candidate must meet several vital qualifications. First, the candidate must have been a regional commissioned officer for a significant period of time. Additionally, they must also have been a Coalition Officer for several years. This experience must encompass extensive command responsibilities, showcasing their ability to lead and manage personnel effectively in intense situations.
In addition to their military credentials, similar to the Coalition Officers, the candidate must also undertake a council tour. This tour is designed to provide them with direct exposure to council members, enabling them to build professional relationships and gain insights into the operational and strategic goals of the organization. Throughout this period, the candidate will participate in various meetings and collaborative activities. These engagements will not only enhance their understanding of the Dragonguard's objectives, but also foster important interdepartmental connections that are vital for the role, ensuring seamless communication and cooperation across all levels of the organization.
Requirements
To be considered eligible for the position of Archon of the Dragonguard, a candidate must meet several requirements. First, the individual must have served at grade as a Coalition Officer, excluding the Archon rank itself, for a minimum of six years, demonstrating their capacity for leadership within a significant operational area. This equates to 32 years of service in total.
In addition to the duration of service, the candidate must exhibit a sustained record of superior performance in their branch. This includes not only successful command in various military engagements but also evidence of effective decision-making under pressure, strategic foresight, and the ability to inspire and lead a diverse crew.
Once a candidate fulfills all other qualifications and requirements, they will be selected to shadow the current Archon for at least six months. Throughout this period, the current Archon will gradually delegate more authority. After the six months are completed, the Council will hold a vote to officially appoint the new Archon.
Appointment
The appointment of a new Archon relies on obtaining a unanimous vote from the Board of Directors and a 3/4 majority vote from the council Ambassadors. This decision-making body comprises esteemed leaders who assess the candidates' performance, dedication, and vision for the future of the Dragonguard, ensuring that only the most qualified individuals ascend to this pivotal leadership role.
Responsibilities
The Archon of the Dragonguard holds a pivotal role, overseeing all military activities within the organization. In addition to issuing commands, they also serve on the board of directors, where they actively participate in voting and strategizing on matters concerning conflict affairs and the overall direction of the organization.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
In order to remove the current Archon of the Dragonguard and appoint a new one, a unanimous vote must be made by the rest of the board of directors. Following this decision, the Dragonguard Sentinels, who are under the command of a different director, will be responsible for escorting the individual out of the building. If necessary, they may also be authorized to arrest the former Archon.
