Oxpond

Demographics

The cities population mostly consists of Dwarves, Humans and Orcs, but there is an Elvish minority present. The many local Dwarven noble houses have residences in the city and there are a couple really wealthy merchants, but poor labourers and middleclass merchants and craftsmen still represent most of the cities inhabitants. The cities large Orc population represents most of its labourers. The Orcs live in slums that extend along the Ox river.

Government

The city is owned and run by house Reinhild, but the Runesmiths of Oxpond have a lot of influence over local politics. The Runesmiths are by far the largest guild in the city and they contribute to the area's economy like no other group. Since they represent a large portion of house Reinhild's income and command respect from the common folk their opinion is regarded with a lot of respect from the lord.

Defences

The city is located where the Ox river flows into the Oxpond, hence its name. It the river has been extended into a canal, so the city is surrounded by water on all sides, as the Ox river flows out of the lake on the other side of the city. A large wall surrounds the city and the two gates are large, with stone bridges leading to each one.

Infrastructure

The city is home to the Runesmiths and as such its home to many forges and metalworking manufactories. Other guilds operate from the city as well, and the Runesmiths have recently helped construct the largest watermill in the world which is powered by the large waterfall on the south side of the city. The watermill powers a large saw and also a wheat grinder. There are some small docks on the lake and some fishing vessels work the lake.
